US Rep Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ) was shot in the head today. Several others were shot and at least four have died, including a child, all at the hands of a gunman now custody.
That is tragic. Will have to check Fox or CNN for the details.

Expect a government crackdown on its own citizens in the wake of the shooting and explosive packages at the post office. As these will surely be linked to some right-wing group that will cause the government to react in a way to suppress all conservative descent in the name of "protecting us" Just a prediction.
Thank God she is alive. What a terrible thing. Some people are nuts, and some have criminal motives. But it is just a tragedy.

FOX News is now reporting that Giffords is alive in critical condition...they are the ones who reported that she had died from her wounds.

Rep. Gabrielle Giffords was shot in the head by a gunman at a public event in Tucson on Saturday. There are conflicting reports about whether she was killed.
The Pima County, Ariz., sheriff's office told member station KJZZ the 40-year-old Democrat was killed. A hospital spokeswoman said Giffords was in critical condition and undergoing surgery.
At least eight other people, including members of her staff, were injured.
Giffords, who was re-elected to a third term in November, was hosting a "Congress on Your Corner" event at a Safeway in northwest Tucson when a gunman ran up and started shooting, according to Peter Michaels, news director of Arizona Public Media.
I have heard reports on the shooter that he has Youtube videos and a Myspace Page, and that he is seriously nuts, by way of his rantings. He apparently has claimed also that his favorite books are The Communists Manifesto and Mein Kampf. So there you have it.
