It was a great day for Schenectady ... and a great day for  Senators Schumer and Gillibrand, Congressmen Tonko, Hannah, and Gibson ... and, of course, for Mayor Stratton.     Mayor Stratton not only got  to ride on Air Force One from DC ---he rode on Marine One from the White House to Andrews Air Force Base.

Don't worry that the president did not stop and eat in Schenectady today, he has been invited to come eat at the next Polish Harvest Festival at the Polish Community Center in October.     That way he will get to eat some
awesomely good food.

How great is it when people become homeless when their houses are seized for the owners failing to pay the taxes of the millionaires?
How great is it when someone dies because an ambulance can't get through  because of the piles of ice in the middle of the road because Stratton wants to give big payouts to his dept head cronies instead of paying to have the streets cleared of snow properly?

Ahhhhh.....GE.....General Electric.........now since the feds invested m/billions into the company.....it will now be called.............Government Electric!

'G'overnment 'E'lectric will now be the poster child on implementing g-r-e-e-n energy!! I guess in all of GE's decades of research they have yet to realize that it takes energy to create energy. So somewhere down the assembly line, there will be the use of toxic energy...duh!

hmmmmm.....let's think for a minute....let's think of 'green' ETHANOL!!! Now remember how that was jammed down our throats and how it was going to be the saving grace for gasoline? How's that working out for ya? Sure, it's made outta corn.Sounds harmless enough. But how much and what energy do they use to create this 'green ethanol'? How are those solar panels working out for ya? How are those windmills working out for ya? How are those electric cars working out for ya!

And just think of the billions of taxpayer's dollars that went into this nonsense research. Especially when we have oil and coil readily available. Oh that's right......the environmentalists won't allow it!

It's all about CAP AND TRADE!! And 'G'overnment 'E'lectric is going to help obama ram it though. Bend over everyone...k?

It will be a great day for the oppressed City taxpayers when this pathetic Mayor follows his buddy Mastro out the back door. Even the President belittled him in his opening remarks. His one and only trip and he didn't go to the dusty Museum, empty Proctor's or a Downtown gin mill? Boo-Hoo!

Cap and trade is dead.

I think most fair minded people - regardless if they believe global warming is caused by man - probably feel that putting all that excess CO2 into the atmosphere is a bad thing.

So limiting it is by all accounts a noble goal.  I believe that, and I can't speak for Immelt but I imagine he believes it too.

GE doesn't really try to create markets - they, from what I can tell, try to determine where the growth opportunities are, and ensure they have products that have advantages over competitors.

Immelt knows government regulations are killing businesses.  Should cap & trade be resuscitated, I imagine that the cap will be very high, and the yearly reduction will be very slight.

It's a moot point though, with a republican house and a senate that has 1/3 of the democrats worried about the next election....  (I think it is more than 1/3 actually)  Cap & trade is dead.

Have a relative who works the plant, turbine division almost 30 year on.   Said if it wasn't for fact New York State would require GE to clean up the 620 of polluted acres if they left, they'd of been gone long ago.   10-15 years ago estimated cost-$30-40 million.......

Innovation is the other part of a 'military/political/survival' exercise....GE is another 'arm' of our defense.....

Carbon dioxide is so poisonous that we must kill all the trees and plants because they need it to live and convert the CO2 to oxygen. The EPA has declared that C02 is a poisonous gas and must be controlled, Cap and Trade is not dead, what the Congress couldn't pass through legislation the progressives will pass through regulation.

Oh I know about that - but am highly skeptical the EPA will be successful there.

I think Congress will rebel, or quite frankly it will remove any chance of Obama winning in 2012, so it would have less than 2 years of effectiveness, as it would be rescinded by the next administration.

You could even see the WV Senator who shot at the cap & trade bill switch to an independent over something like this...  The Dem majority in the senate could be threatened as well...

Quoted from Shadow
I was stranded for 15 minutes on Chrysler Ave where it crosses 890 because the police wouldn't let any cars cross the bridge until after the President had passed under the bridge on his way to the Thruway. There wasn't one car on 890 when we finally crossed the bridge so the police must have stopped traffic in both directions while the President was headed to the Thruway.

They did this all along I-890.  I was over near the crosstown and they had the sherriff and a state trooper at the Watt Street / Chrysler Ave intersection blocking traffic for some time so people couldn't go towards I-890 or get back to anywhere the other side of the highway.
