Meeskers. Johnny M is makin 120K between the two jobs. I find that hard to believe. I need to check on that Cicero. If he was making 90k in Guilerland why did he pick up Rotterdam? I think your info is wrong Cicero. You are sooo careful too with your sources and accusations.

I admit, I did use numbers posted on this board. I would guess that the Guilderland job pays around $60K, but I don't know. Nonetheless, the fact remains that one town requires full time and our town is getting one part time. With all the problems with assessments in Rotterdam, you would think ROTTERDAM would need the full time assessor to fix ALL the problems. After all, FDG admittedly ran for supervisor because he disagreed with the change in his assessment. It seems counter intuitive for FDG to hire a part-time assessor with all the assessment discrepancies, including the supervisor's assessment. I guess FDG doesn't need a full time assessor to adjust HIS assessment. Just one that's in his pocket.
It's done in the bureaucrat heaven called New York State. Local governments create unnecessary patronage postitions to reward party loyalist.(mainly Democrat)
That way the party can shop around local governments controlled by their party to place bureaucrats like JM and the Confidential Secretary from I believe Rensselaer.
JM is the assessor for two towns of approximately the same size. One town pays $90K full time the other $33K part time. Either one town is over paying and getting ripped off, or the other is going to be getting poor service(it was poor when he was full time) since it is obvious we will be second fiddle to JM's primary job. Time will tell.
There absolutely everything wrong with having a confidential secretary. What is so secret and confidential at the peoples Town Hall? It's A SECRETARY - it could be filled by many qualified people in Rotterdam. But by attaching the word "confidential" to the title, they expect to convince the people that it is a necessary political appointment. What a joke.
You could have applied for the position of Assessor - it was posted in advertisements in the local papers. I have full confidence in Mr. Macejka's ability to perform his duties. You are just full of sour grapes.

We have a town wide assessment problem, and we're hiring part-time? I have no sour grapes. The FACT is, the town's assessment didn't get fu(ked up over the past 4 years while Republicans had the majority. As a matter of FACT Pauolino hired GAR. Rotterdam's assessment problems happened over 30 or 40 years, under the watchful eye of the Macejka's. That's a FACT.

Tomassone and Company f'ed up the Reval by not doing their part - according to the contractual agreement - and by turning down the state grant to help maintain the Reval at 100%.
BTW - John Macejka wasn't assessor 40 years ago.

This is how it went down. Surprise increased the assessment on FDG's residence to the value it should be. FDG has an on-going lawsuit against the Town to bring it back down to the Friends and Family level. A year in office and no satisfaction yet for FDG. The 2011 budget is issued with the Assessor's salary cut in half from the previous year's salary. Why? This forces Surprise to leave and allows the current admin to hire JM. JM would never leave a full time salary in G'land to come back to Rotten-dam knowing that once this merry band is done in November 2011, he will be history, once again. JM is only being hired to accomplish one thing...settle FDG's assessment problems.
Not fully accurate, Clubhouse. The REAL reason JM is back is because he can put his pension on STEROIDS. Here's how it goes: I can't recall how old he is, but I'm sure he's within three years of retirement. I'm also not sure what his salary is in Guilderland, but I could almost bet you the sun and moon his salary in Rotterdam brings him to over 100k. Now for state retirement, your pension is based on your last three years' income. If he can hang in with Rotterdam for the rest of Surprise's term, he'll get a paycheck of something like 66k for the REST OF HIS LIFE! Now, I'm no big fan of cops making that kind of cash to go out to pasture. But at least they have to spend SOME time risking their lives. For an assessor to bring home that kind of a retirement...jeeze...let me jam my fingers down my throat. That, folks, is why JM is back in town. The town screwed him, now it's his turn to do the screwing. Hope you brought your big change purse to the tax window this year...
BTW...the assessor can't do anything with FDG's assessment. I'm not sure if JM could even be called on for trial, since he really had nothing to do with it. Surprise is still on the hook for that, if I'm not mistaken. The real hold up there is that FDG needs to curry favor with THREE board members to get his sweetheart deal signed.
The former assessor had 4 towns and was making over 100k plus a NiMo pension. Lives in Renns Co. But that was OK? How was the other 4 or 5 applicants retirement affected had they been hired?
SOUR GRAPES indeed. My neighbor knows the gals in the office and they have been plesantley surprised by the smooth transition. 5-0 Moved by Matt second by Nikki. What's the problem?
Actually it was a whole generation that hid behind partial assessment and the ability of friends and familia to avoid the elephant in the room....eventually all your relatives die and you get to hold the bag of crap left for you......
...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......
The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.
