If you insist on insulting my aunts --- show yourself in public and I will put you in your place.

Be careful DV...

That might constitute a threat worthy of notifying the state police.

just b/c you live over there in the old house with Baby Jane and her sister and you don't pay taxes doesn't mean you have anyone but yourself fooled by your bull$hit stories.

Hey GB, you may be getting reported to the police.

Funny, there's Pat Z speaking (intelligently and telling the truth) and someone was going to report her to the local police, and then to the state police, but no arrests and there she is speaking at the meeting.  In fact, she's commenting about the city and plexy ignoring the neighborhoods

I just posted a comment along that line and you beat me to it

MikeChristine is all upset because I stated that I prefer to check sources beyond this forum -- to ascertain
the credibility of the information -- before I make a comment.   In this case, before I made a comment on
a very tragic and serious matter.
The fact that he-she is upset about it doesn't bother me at all.   I will choose to make informed comments
after reviewing a variety of sources.   If he-she doesn't like it - he-she can pound sand for all I care.

So, again, you didn't answer the question.   What sources did you check??????    Did you check with the police department?

DV, you use your aunts to make unfounded accusations against people here all the time. Why don't they come out to swear an affidavit of truthfulness instead of hiding, and letting you make third party accusations in your stead! You continuously claim that your aunts were mistreated by this guy or that guy, and that they wish some candidate would stop using 'Judge Seversen's name" blah blah blah. We don't even know if your aunt's exist, or if they are embalmed or mummified on the back porch in dual rocking chairs.

What a turd you are.

A woman whose son was missing some years ago, she didn't indicate what the situation was, but it was in the city, said she spoke to the city and was assured that never again would a building demolished without a thorough search.

So, on Dec 25, the brother reported his missing brother to the police department.

What did DV's miracle police dept do?   NOTHING!!!!!!  But they DID acknowledge the brother came to the police station.  And on TV we heard the words of the fire chief that his dept didn't know ANYTHING about anyone missing.

But no one in city hall is responsible

It took an hour and a half for the issue to be breached! Rev Adams went on and on about Arizona but not a word about another murder in Schenectady and the fact that his body was recovered 21 DAYS LATER by the demolition crew. This is a moral crisis not just a political crisis. Not one of the poverty pimps mentioned it.

Bravo to Pat Z who called for the Mayor's resignation over the pension padding scandal. Take the Commissioner with you out the door.

Oh, I need to clarify something on the above.  She spoke at tonight's city council meeting

Government should not pay rent to delinquent landlords

Re Dec. 30 article, “Strapped city faces razing bill”: I am writing in response to the recent tragic fire at 902 McClellan St. I noticed while reading the article that the landlord, Frank Popolizio Sr., owes the city of Schenectady $30,000 in unpaid property [taxes] on the property.
I would like to know how the city allowed this landlord to go without paying $30,000 in taxes? I also learned that Frank Popolizio Sr. has been cited on many occasions by city code enforcement for numerous building code violations on many of his rental properties. Why does the city of Schenectady let him, and many other absentee property owners, get away with not maintaining their rental properties and also get away with piling up unpaid property bills, usually at the expense of all other taxpayers?
When absentee property owners go without making property tax payments, it burdens the other taxpayers, usually resulting in higher tax payments for those innocent taxpayers who pay their taxes on time and also faithfully maintain their properties.
I would like to see landlords held more accountable for their rental properties — to prevent absentee landlords from benefiting from properties they don’t maintain or pay property taxes on.
I recently made a recommendation to some of our elected city and county officials and Social Services. Why not check code enforcement records on a biweekly basis so Social Services can see which rental properties violate city building codes — then cut off rent payments from Social Services to landlords in violation until that property is brought up to code? I believe it will stop absentee landlords from benefi ting from Social Service rent subsidies when the property is not up to code and is in substandard condition.

These absentee landlords are politically connected and therefore no matter how much in back taxes or the number of code violations those in power will protect them, it's not right but it's the Schenectady way IMHO.

The code violations would be quickly fixed if DSS withheld Section 8 payments from offenders. DSS refuses to do it. Another example of working together? No one acts-no one is held accountable-and nobody say nuthin. If you do you are lectured by some suburban preacher about "civility". The flock is hot under the collar even if the preachers still want to look the other way.

Another new complainer at the rail! The one and only "Sidewalk" Bob Sanders-the DEM committeeman and sign maven who helped elect these DEM idiots. He was birching about the nonstop tax increases on his modest home. Suggestion-stop defending them and help unseat them. Now even DEM committee people have had enough? They don't care about anyone including long time DEM committee people.

How quickly they'll attack a deadbeat dad's paycheck and withhold $ for child support, but they won't go after landlords.

They're both deadbeats - make 'em pay!

I don't think that there would be any code violations in Section 8 housing, unless things have changed, I believe they get inspected, but not by the city, don't know if it's the county, or the county hires someone (or the state or fed).  I could be wrong however.

But I do agree, landlords who rent to anyone who gets taxpayer funded assistance should not be paid the rent, actually, the "rent check" should be sent directly to the municipality/school districts to whom taxes are owed.  Then if there are code violations and the landlord fails to fix them, there are fines which get added to the tax bill (which then would go to the muni/school.  Then if the city has to come and do repairs, they slap the cost onto the landlord, on to the tax bill and again, pay direct from DSS (or where-ever) to the local govt/school district txax offices.

I have to admit, I saw that letter and saw the name and said "oh my God!  HER!   Betty Lou!"   She used to be worse than that elderly Katz woman that speaks.   (BL and her mom used to ride around on the handicapped carts in Walmart, screaming at each other, oh gosh---but then BL would ride her bike, not sure why she needed a cart)   But on this letter, Betty Lou is 100% right.

I also believe, and I'm sure that each and every poster to these boards will agree, the mayor owes the city taxpayers an explanation of why these big time landlords never have their buildings seized.  And I believe everyone here will agree that the mayor owes the taxpayers an explanation of what happened to the back taxes that the Alsdorf/Todd team owed to the city when Susie-Gillen-Stratton rewarded them with a quarter million dollars without withholding payment for back taxes.   (Well, each and every poster except one)

Or how about a landlord that moves out of the city because its bad for the kids and takes a home equity loan out on the rented property and uses the money to fix up his home in another city while the rented home falls into shambles?
