10.11 Re-appoint Marjorie Schmid of Rotterdam, New York as a member of the
Rotterdam Conservation Advisory Council for a two (2) year term, with no
compensation or benefits, commencing January 1, 2011 and terminating
December 31, 2013.

I thought Marjorie wrote a Letter to the Editor in the Gazette earlier this year and she indicated that when offered this position, she turned it down.  The offer came from the Supervisor personally and he promised to name the proposed Rotterdam Junction park after her if she agreed to be a proponent of the project.   In the past, Marjorie has been an environmental advocate and opposed the park...so what's with this appointment???  Is it wishful thinking on the Board's part??

I believe she didn't want a park named after her but I truly think she wanted to keep her position on CAC

Well, I guess the best thing to say is that Nicki was acting responsible and the supervisor and his deputy were clearly upset by it.  Eventually, conservatism won out on this night and Mr. Martin and Mr. Calder sided with her on almost all issues that didn't go unanimously.  One good thing is that the agenda item for forming the ALS decision was brought down due to something in the town code that Ms. DiLeva brought forward.  They are having the attorney look into town code, chapter 27.

http://www.ecode360.com/?custId=RO0175
Quoted Text

[HISTORY: Adopted by the Town Board of the Town of Rotterdam 7-16-1980. Amendments noted where applicable.]§ 27-1 Approval of formation and authorization of charter.

The Town Board of the Town of Rotterdam hereby approves the formation of the Rotterdam Emergency Medical Board and authorizes the charter for said Board.
§ 27-2 Composition.

A. The membership of said Board consists of the following:

(1) Two members from the Rotterdam Town Board.
(2) Two members from the Rotterdam Police Department.
(3) Two members from the Rotterdam Volunteer Emergency Medical Corps.
(4) Two members from the White Eagle Relief Squad.
(5) Two members from the Fire Department rescue squads as nominated by the Rotterdam Fire Chief's Association.
B. The Supervisor of the Town of Rotterdam and the Health Officer shall be ex officio members.

There are several issues in this that would need to be addressed, but it was brought up that this should be looked into prior to allowing the contract to go out for bid for the ALS.

Also, you didn't include that Mr. Supervisor stated last year that he was going to head up the senior center renovation, to which he pretty much only subcontracted it.  Also, it was mentioned as a success that the little league fields are moving forward with their nre fields and the apartments are getting ready to go in at the triangle, but Mr. Supervisor, who previously mentioned he would bring his own equipment and do the job himself, but today, he advised that he didn't know where the new fields were supposed to be located.

Also, I believe we need to contact someone at town hall.  After all the changes in the agenda today, the one that was put up on the site was totally mangled by the end of the meeting.  We need to get the final agenda from the town to let you know what actually happened.

Tippy, halfway through the meeting, I would have been upset at all of the stuff that was going on that I wouldn't have been able to take notes.  In fact, I didn't even realize the 2 votes that followed the public hearings even happened.  I don't know if the board members realize it did, either.

Tippy for Town Clerk, 2011, although, I must say that Michelle did a good job today with keeping her head on, even after each time a vote went through to add additional wording to a resolution, Mr. Supervisor thought that the resolution was voted on.  I don't know if he knew what he was voting on.  As for the Deputy Supervisor, I wonder what he was thinking.  He made the same remarks each time that Ms. DiLeva brought up about adding the wording.  Although on each and every issue that it was added, he voted against the amendment to update it, for some reason, after it was added, he agreed and voted yes on the full resolutions.  Seems to me that if he voted against the amendment, then he would have disagreed with the resolution as it was written, and should have voted no.  I don't know, but did anybody else that was there for this marathon session ever think of that?

Excellent job tippy........you should be on the town payroll for excellence in communication and transparency. And you should also be entitled to a stipend for just having the patience to sit through the thing!!

I will say that with a year under their belt............the rotterdam town board still doesn't what end is up!!! It's gonna be a long year for rotterdamians.

Brian McGarry should have NO problem in the next rotterdam election. He's got the drive, the passion, the dedication, the conservative ideology, the desire to serve and obviously knows how to walk to his own drummer yet work together!!! He's your guy rotterdam!!! Yer given another chance......don't let history repeat itself like it usually does in rotterdam!!

The only problem that I can see occurring is that on the conservative side, we may have a split in the votes again.  While it hasn't been confirmed, I personally believe that Nicki DiLeva may not be looking to run for re-election for her seat, as she may try a run for Supervisor.

I don't know.  Haven't heard that.  I have heard that O'Connor is looking to run as the Supervisor, but if Nicki runs also, it could bring an issue.  Maybe there will be a pri  Agaamary, with the winner running for Supervisor, loser running for a town board seat.  Again, this is all just speculation and how I could see things happening.

There are several issues in this that would need to be addressed, but it was brought up that this should be looked into prior to allowing the contract to go out for bid for the ALS.

There will be no bidding for ALS service...only for BLS/ambulance service.

Correct .. and the Times-Union got it wrong in there article today  (Sunday) .. the Times-Union was saying
that the resolution that was tabled was a resolution to create an ambulance tax district.  The tax district idea is dead and gone.
