Provide links to the studies that support your claims, otherwise, it's a lie

Provide a link to a reputable well known source that supports your statement.  Yeah, sure, just like your statement that the FBI says crime in Schenectady is going down, but you cannot come up with one teeny piece of proof to support your statement

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

The FBI statistics show that violent crime in the City of Schenectady has gone down in the past 10
years and that property crimes have gone up in the same time period.

Concentrate on a REP unity team for the town and everything else will fall in the victory column.

Hmmmmmm.....are you implying that mertzie could be part of this 'rep unity team'! I mean just think for a minute.....the rep party was the most united when mertzie was on the 'inside' of the party. Mertzie was pushed to the 'outside' and the entire rep party fell apart!!!

First - the entire rotterdam rep slate lost the election
Second - GP loses the bid for assemblyman
Third - the rotterdam rep supported REMS taxing district failed

It doesn't take a rocket scientist here folks! Mertzie was the voice of reason, a unifier and a leader! Like him or not....in hindsight, it's obvious. Wake up rotterdamians!

And this just goes to prove my point.  When the crime rate goes up, people move out.  If you have any other facts that show that the crime is actually coming down because more people are moving in, I'd appreciate it, otherwise, this is just proving yourself wrong.

No sane person would bike or hike in schenectady without fearing for their lives! The so called pristine central park is full of perverts....not to mention the shooters that are still on the loose. So what would make anyone think that a biking/hiking trail through vale cemetery park would be any safer?

It is a total waste of taxpayer's money at this time. There are clearly bigger fish to fry in schenectady.

Google the crime statistics for Schenectady NY and you'll find that violent crime in the city is up and  many types of crimes are above NYC and above national average.

It doesn't prove your point -- the fact remains that the way to TAKE BACK your neighborhoods from the
criminals is for good people to use the streets, parks and public spaces ... walk around .. ride bikes ..
that is the way to end the "broken window syndrome".

Also, the PERCEPTION that an area is dangerous often makes people believe that there is more crime than
is actually going on.    By working together to take back our streets, parks and public spaces, communities
can reduce and/or eliminate the PERCEPTION that an area is dangerous.

Great summary of the current sad state in the City. Don't forget the pit bulls running loose. Central Park was once the crown jewel of the City-designed by the planner of Central Park in NYC-Frederick Olmstead. It was opened under Schenectady Socialist Mayor Lund. One of the first acts of the current disgrace was canceling Tuesday In the Park-which was attended by thousands of County residents. But he cares-lol. Now a feeding center with horrible public pool. Complete mess. BTW it already has a hiking trail-which is in disrepair like everything else under these DEM incompetents. Everyone attends the opening-no one around for the maintenance.

As usual DVR has things backwards. First the SPD with the help of decent residents has to get control of the neighborhood. Criminals and gang thugs must be rounded up and thrown in jail. Of course, there is no City leadership to make this happen. Having a bunch of suburban fools riding around on bikes to be robbed/attacked does nothing. Any idiot riding a bike in Hamilton Hill or Vale Village gets what they deserve.

BTW, look at what the you paid for in Vale-in the midst of chaos is a beautiful iron gate on Moyston St with the words "Vale Village". Another Death Ray production. Thousands flushed down the toilet in the midst of a sea of abandoned homes. The gate will accomplish rebirth just like the "multi-modal" trail will. Put the horse in front of the cart.

The way you get control of a neighborhood is to work with the police AND to go out and use the streets, parks and public spaces.  The two have to be done in unison.

Frankly, I think the streets, parks and public spaces would be even safer and more pleasant if the
Nattering Nayboobs of Negativity stayed home.

No sane person is going to ride a bike in a dangerous area. This will only increase the police caseload which is already overwhelming. This is not a difficult concept-your blind partisanship is showing. If the REPS proposed this insanity you would be going ape.

This is a complete waste of State funds which they can't afford. If we had one decent County Legislator they would actively oppose this. The broken window theory has been totally rejected. It's also called throwing good money after bad. We have enough new windows on abandoned homes.
