Also...on a different note...I keep hearing the Recovery Room touted as an accomplishment...and the road relocation...REALLY? That's goddamn sad, IMO. Real sad.

The gin mill and bank raises the value of 'certain properties' near it.
If that were not true, it would have been built on Hamburg St..

The failure to put sewers on Hamburg Street is NOT  Mr. Del Gallo's fault.    Property owners  have voted down
efforts to install sewers on Hamburg Street in the past.    The property owners should then bear the
responsibility for the plight of Hamburg Street.   They said NO to sewers and potential businesses have said NOback to to them.

I believe there are many businesses and schools in rotterdam that are up and running without 'sewers'. hmmmmmm..........
The fact of the matter is that with the plex involved, they could have offered bbl a tax paid deal they couldn't refuse to move to hamburg st.
The fact of the matter is that this was strategically placed to benefit the 'surrounding' businesses.

There are MANY businesses that have looked at locating on Hamburg Street and have walked away once
they learn that there are no sewers.  I know of several nationally known businesses that were interested in
locating on Hamburg Street but were turned off by the lack of sewers.

You really have to stop the "i hate Metroplex rant" and wake up and smell the coffee .. listen to people
who actually know what is going on.

Is the Golub warehouse on sewers?
Is Bradt school on sewers?

I also heard of several businesses (professional) that looked at the rotterdam location and thought the area looked like a sh!thole. Except for a walmart, dollar stores, gin mill and grocery stores...........it wasn't exactly what they had in mind. Perhaps there were some that had a 'sewer' issue............but come on............look at the businesses that are alive and well without them. I'm all for sewers....but there is life without them if you want something bad enough....no?

Who cares about sewers when you have a beautiful sparkling new governmental gin mill? The pride of the County. Who needs Downtown? You can tie one on closer to home. This screams "renaissance".

Funded with RIDA funds because Metrograft is tapped out. Once you sit back in those unforgiving hard plastic Giants seats and tip back a few you can almost believe you are not in Schenectady County.

There have been a number of efforts to build sewers in different parts of the town over the years .. it
boils down to people don't want to pay for the sewers   BUT then they complain when businesses refuse
to build in Rotterdam because there are many areas without sewers.

Bottomline -- you get what you ask for  .. vote no for sewers .. you screw yourself when it comes to attracting
new business to town.

Actually, i believe that Golub has its own sewer system -- so YES they are on sewers.

I am aware of several businesses that wanted to develop in Rotterdam  and along Hamburg Street in
particular and also out by Schalmont HS  ---- Rotterdam was and still is a PRIME location to consider
for their business expansion ... but they will NOT build here because there are no sewers.

You can choose to live with your head stuck in your septic tank  ----  but  the reality is that Rotterdam will
not reach its full development potential without sewers.

If you vote yes to give $120K of YOUR taxdollars to BBL for a recovery room you get...Ooops...I forgot, there is no vote, you have no choice.  King Gillen and his nobel sidekick Mallozzi dictate where your money will be spent.  Then theyl send out their court gesture DV to tell all of us how grateful we are to have the honor of giving OUR money to the privilaged millionaires.

OK, (this is non poster specific or a critique), isn't the only substantive piece of property for development the old Grand Union?  Are posters saying that we need sewers for that parcel, or are there others with high value that can't be developed?  Isn't it crazy talk to consider sewers for one major parcel when the rest of the corridor is developed without this infrastructure?  In my mind, I'm just running through what businesses and development there is and what there sewer needs are.  Just asking . . . .

we will need them for the "NEW" restrsunt and bank at the circle

and maybe someday they will rebuild the Bowling Alley on hamburg

that alone will justify sewers

the real issue is not hamburg st it is Coldbrook one of countries early adventures in suburbia

actually that can be said about any neighborhood in this town - engineering - it sucks,  all for today and $$$ not 30 years out

and these just for fun

west hill  -  low voltage switching  -  and this was smart people

country walk - just put a shovel in the ground  - more rocks than downtown nantucket - ACK(bill the cat)

but what does this all have to do with the recovery room anyways

this discussion is just as disjointed as the town itself

I think your point is --- the town has suffered from years of poor planning -- if that is your point than
I would agree.

How is it that just a decade or so ago, hamburg street was bustling........and all without sewers!!! WTF?

And now, are we being led to believe that no one will move into the old grand union because there are no sewers? The numbers don't add up! Hamburg street was a bustling little area of rotterdam with a large grocery chain, a flourishing ice cream store and a full bowling alley that are currently not there today.

It is all smoke and mirrors regarding hamburg street. Bottom line is that even without sewers, ANY business can function and succeed quite well. The Golub warehouse and Bradt School do quite well....yes?  The truth is.........rotterdam is a sh!thole....

The residents remember and know this. So why would they pay for sewers now when they saw how well hamburg street did in the past without them? GOOD FOR THEM!

It has been MORE than a decade since Grand Union closed and the bowling alley.   The fact is that there
has not been major new commercial construction on Hamburg Street in at least 30 years.
Times have changed --  if we are to attract  good retail businesses and commercial offices .. we need
sewers .
