Some will still pay more as county cuts tax levy

Taxes will increase for thousands of residents of Schenectady County next year, contrary to comments made by the Democratic majority in the Schenectady County Legislature.
The Legislature will vote to set 2011 tax rates at a special meeting Wednesday.
Legislature Chairwoman Susan Savage in September announced the county’s $293 million 2011 budget offered a property tax cut of 0.3 percent. “I am pleased to announce that the proposed county budget will include a 0.3 percent property tax cut for Schenectady County taxpayers, which is the fourth tax cut in six years,” she said.
    In fact, it will be a 0.2 percent tax levy decrease. But county property tax rates vary between municipalities. So instead of a 0.3 percent tax cut for everyone, the 2011 tax rates will range from a nearly 3 percent increase to a nearly 13 percent decrease.
    When Savage, a Democrat, made the announcement, she was running for state Senate against incumbent Republican Sen. Hugh Farley. She lost by nearly 2 to 1 in November. ....................>>>>....................>>>>...........................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r01500&AppName=1

Gee, what a surprise. Working together works! SS Savage misled to the peeps while falling on her face losing Senate? "The 4th cut in 6 years"-Huh? There is no real County tax cut-as I stated months ago. Taxes for thousands are going up. SS Savage and the DEM machine refuse to cut spending as every surrounding County has done.

     While Albany County lays off hundreds and Montgomery/Fulton close County nursing homes it's damn the torpedos full speed ahead in Schenectady County. These idiots want everything and refuse to budget. Wait until her nursing home {which already has been bonded for $55 MILLION} is built and running on Curry Rd. Sales tax revenues are off, Metrograft is a total failure at job creation and County costs keep skyrocketing. No wonder unemployment is the highest while City incomes are the lowest in the area.

This is why the Democratic machine in Schenectady is crumbling and won't continue past their current term, contrary to the cheerleaders and whiners.

The real story is that Michael Lamendola actually reported it - though the story could have probably been published before the election if the Gazette did a little digging into the budget numbers.  And I see they picked the opportune time of Tuesday the week of Christmas to run the story to slide the story through undetected.

So, DV, you still haven't responded.  Quite an embarrassment for you and the rest of the Savage cronies who tried to tell us taxes, the county taxes, are going down.  But what has happened??????????????????

Maybe the tax bills would go down, however, DV won't understand this because he is not a taxpayer, but when the amount that Savage/s crony millionsiares are supposed to pay is factored into it, it raises the taxes on the homeowners---because the financially struggling homeowners have to bring in that tax revenue to the county.  

And so, the taxes on the homeonwers increases.  DV, do you understand it now????   Now, tell us what has happened to taxes in Schenectady.  Can you tell us?

The county leg right along with the plex needs to be desolved. The county leg needs to be replaced with a board of supervisors. These county legislatures are too far removed from the everyday goings on in the towns they represent.

Hey rotterdamians......when was the last time any of you talked to judy dago and holly v? When was the last time any of you actually even saw them? More importantly......when was the last time any of you attended a pathetic county leg meeting?

They are a waste of time and a waste of the taxpayer's money!

And I believe that the plex is reaching it's bonded amount. It will be interesting to see if they ask for an increase and if it gets passed.......again! It's time to contact tedisco, amedore and farley and let them know how you feel. You can all bet that the plex will ask for an increase during this election year....if at all. MAKE IT A TOP PRIORITY ISSUE FOLKS!

Over 24 hours.   DV has been posting during the past 24 hours, but has avoided posting here.  Once again, he is speechless.  We all know better than he does.  

What's the matter, DV????    How many times have I said taxes are going up????????    Uh, DV, what has happend AGAIN to the finanacially struggling people of the city of Schenectady thanks to your girl Susie??????   Huh DV???????  

Just remember DV, I am right, I am the one who tells the truth.  You need an education in taxes.  Now, let's teach you.  All property is assessed based on it's value.  The total assessed value of ALL properties in a municpality is used in the mathematical equation needed to determine the tax RATE per thousand (of assessed value).  When a given property is exempt from taxes for whatever reason, that INCREASES the tax RATE on the rest of the population in the municpality and thus increases their tax bill.

In Schenectady, your girl Susie and her team of cronies -- Gillen and Stratton--- have VIOLATED what Metroplex was intended.  Metroplex was to be funded by extra sales tax and NOT by property & school tax exemptions!!!!!    However, when your girlfriend and her team started handing out 100% (or more) tax exemptions to all the millionaires in their new buildings downtown, buildings worth MILLIONS in some cases, the total assessed value of ALL those (tax exempt) buildings resuilts in the tax RATE having to be incdrased even higher than otherwise would be needed.

And DV, who, can you tell us WHO gets stuck with paying higher taxes because of the higher tax rate?  It is the residential homeowners.  Again, DV, the typical TOTAL HOUSEHOLD income in the city of Schenectady is $30,000.  Tell us DV, HOW, tell us HOW can people afford to pay Susie's tax increases???????   Huh?????

WHY, tell us WHY DV, WHY should people who are struggling financially to support their families on $30,000 a year have to pay the property tax bills of millionaire Mallozzi?  Huh?   Tell us WHY low income people should pay his tax bill???????   Huh?   Can you tell us DV?   Tell us WHY households with incomes of $30,000 should have to pay the property and school tax bills of the MULTI-MILLION dollar company---the Hampton Hotel?????     Proctors rakes in a fortune, so much so that Morris was able to buy a very very expensive house way outside of the city....WHY should people who are struggling to make ends meet pay the taxes for such a rich business bringing in a fortune like that?

Landslide Savage lied to the County residents. There is no tax cut. There was never a tax cut. She lied about the Downtown miracle which is tax free, job free, retail free disaster despite $100 MILLION in County sales tax money flushed. In any other County the entire Metrograft crew would be fired and the sales tax increase returned to the oppressed populace.

     In the meantime, the County Home has still not been sited. These DEM "leaders" can't even take of the basics. Where is the County Manager on the County Home fiasco? Put her on a milk carton. Then we hear from RINO's what a great job she is doing. Huh? Where? It's unbelievable that Fulton and Montgomery have gotten out of the County Home business but here in socialist central they want to bury the taxpayer even deeper. The only thing that saves Landslide Savage is that the City/Town DEMS are even worse.
