The two party system is slowly but surely being challenged. The only ones in opposition, are the parties and the party loyalist. It's time to think of the taxpayers.
If all parties, major and minor, were holding to their ideology and serving the people instead of self serving, there would be no independent candidates.
In comparison it appears that Mcgarry is clearly the best candidate for rotterdamian taxpayers.

I don't know the exact details of the offer on the table, but I think it involves endorsing BM for County Leg to get him out of the way, and running a very flawed retread candidate for Supervisor. The Reps are in a position to win some seats, but it looks like they may squander it over more political infighting.
If by compromise, you mean having a quality, fiscally conservative, and well known candidate who can win the election "stand down", you are correct. You may be unaware, but there have been multiple discussions between several Republican party leaders and the NNTP. Joint backing for some candidates was discussed and I believe could occur.
As I monitor this board I wonder how long you will all continue this conversation without resolution. NNTP WAS and IS a spoiler. Blame your Buchanan guy. The Republicans have no good candidates to date and the NNTP were losers that helped the Democrats sail into office...a motley crew but Democrats just the same. Who does all the thinking here for the Rep/Con party? Buchanan, Parisi, out of towner Littlefield, Mertz, or KR? You guys are going to need a "new" cocktail if you want to win. My suggestion--steer clear of the Tea Party people. The general audience is fed up with the political rhetoric and tone they set via mouthpieces like Palin, Beck and various other blowhards. Can't blame Liberals for this.
I believe that many misunderstand the NNTP to be the "local" version of the National Tea Party. I never saw it that way, it was a third party political movement to bring fiscal responsibility back to the government of the Town of Rotterdam, plain and simple!

Cooler heads must prevail. Let's wait until full slates have been announced. No one wants to go back to the mattresses. A rerun of 2009 only helps incumbents.
Avon I wasn't saying that NNTP is aligned with the Tea Party (though some on that ticket may be). It was just a general suggestion for the Republicans to stay clear of the Tea Party folks. Also the original sentiment continues--NTTP is a spoiler. Also when you inlude "outsiders" those who are not in your voting area, with no vested interest in your town, it may also be prudent to think twice about letting them in your campaign unless their sphere of influence is large.

That's ridiculous! Finding somebody to manage all the moving parts that go into running a campaign (fund raisers, book-keeping, etc..) has no influence on the candidate and his principles. I do agree that Reps, Dems, and Cons will attempt to exploit Brad's involvement to smear Brian.
If I didn't know any better, I would think Yossi is making a veiled threat.

As a generality I would agree except the "outsider" has a similar political mindset as the candidate and is all to familiar with Rotterdam's political "ailments". In this case I wouldn't categorize the individual as an outsider, merely someone that just doesn't live here, they are to smart for that!
Veiled threat?????????????????? LOL I don't have a dog in this race. But I do know, having worked on a friend's campaign, a friend who does NOT live in my town, I did him no real good. My sphere of influence did not extend to his town. WE broke up the jobs of fundraising, bookkeeper, PR etc. It was a team effort.
No one was referring to the mindset of the candidate. Veiled threat--that was a reach.

Who managed the team? Who kept everybody on the same page? Endorsements are to help increase support through proxy. Campaign management is exactly what it says - Management. Management is using campaign resources efficiently.
Everyone on the team had worked seriously on campaigns before me. In fact, they had very good outcomes. I was the neophyte. My candidate lost by several hundred votes. It was a good effort but I felt, being the outsider, that I was not much additional help. My candidate had very good endorsements. A HUGE hit at the door. My feeling is if the NNTP is to succeed, they need ALL hands on deck--local folks. Using an outsider who is not a stakeholder wouldn't hold much water with me just as I was ineffective in another town. Not casting aspersions--just being honest.

Not being much additional help and being a drag on the candidate are two different things. Do you believe your involvement in the campaign caused people to NOT vote for the cadidate you were working for?
Not surprised McGarry is making deals with other folks. That is exactly what disturbed NNTP people last time. McGarry and Mertz were off to celebrate with FDG while another NNTP was feeling wounded by the process and actually was pretty bitter by day three. McGarry will not pull this off. Maybe he can run for Leg--everyone's doing it.

McGarry was a class act by going to FDG to congratulate him. Both FDG and McGarry should be a lesson learned....they were friends 'before'...and are friends 'after' politics. They don't define each other by their politics. Something most rotterdamians don't get!
And the only ones feeling wounded that night were clearly the rotterdam reps.

I don't know that any City candidates have been rejected by the GOP...none have been introduced for consideration. No one is suggesting that momentum doesn't spread...all I'm saying is that the no new tax group will not dictate to the Republican Party...or any other for that matter...no Party would be receptive to that. It's another one of those realities...
You must surely be buchanan! You sure have enough to say about the rep party.
