Anthony's in Rotterdam Junction is also very good.

Agree with this-not about Mallozzi's which is not even in the top thirty for Italian fare. Marino's in the City is far better. You also see great politicians there. Boomer is right about the IAC it has gone way down. It's so good no one goes there anymore?

If Mallozzi's is the best in Rotterdam it is because there isn't much competition other than Canali's.  Nobody goes to IAC anymore.  Was there recently for a lunch meeting and we were the only two in the joint.

Nobody goes there because it's horrible. Ditto some governmental lunch rooms Downtown. You can fool some of the people some of the time-then they eat home.

Again.......for rotterdam, comparing mallozzi's to canali's is comparing apples to oranges. We actually received gift certificates for canali's this christmas.

Mallozzi's is a great banquet hall. And their service for banquets are outstanding. Most people just don't look at mallozzi's as a restaurant.

I guess it's all a matter of opinion.

And I'd like to mention that Canali's is a great meeting place for family and friends who live in Rotterdam.  On any given evening, you can walk into the place and run into someone you know.  It is such a hub that Brian M will be announcing his candidacy there on Jan 20 at 5pm.   Looking forward to seeing you all that evening!

that would be american italian - not genuine Italian

take a taxi, mass transport, or walk - to and from
no earlier than 10pm
streets no wider than one car width
proper portioning - not supersized - enough to make you want to come back not bring home
courses at least 3 if you choose
wine without sulfides  - 8 euros a bottle competing with US wines at $150 a bottle
a proper desert choice - grapes, cheeses, and sweets

I wil be in FLorence in Feb and look forwrd to just what you describe.  The food is unbelieveable.  Last time I was there had a dish of pasta (made like little purses) stuffed with gorgonzola and pear in a white wine cream suace....I had 2 dishes.  Owner was so impressed that I liked his meal that he didn't charge for the 2nd dish....

ahhh  - someone who understands

find the hotel Brunelleschi

http://www.hotelbrunelleschi.it/hotel-brunelleschi-firenze/florence-hotel/index.html

http://www.hotelbrunelleschi.it/ENG/gallery.htm

the hotel entrance is a true piece of history - a must see  check the gallery link above

and the inlaid stonework of the Dumo and the climb to the top - look for the crack in the mural in the top of the interior of the dumo - then look down into the church and think of the entire population
of the town of rotterdam fits inside

ribolitta - is the perfect soup for a late afternoon hold back the hunger and warm your insides in feb

for those who haven't been or wont go, google maps paste this address then switch to street view to see florance

Piazza Santa Elisabetta, 3, 50122 Firenze, Italy

read about the flood and climb on to a center bridge support ( limb over the bridge rail on to the center support) up or downstream( i forget) and take pics of the Ponte Vecchio at night on your way to dinner

"jello-us" for gelato

and by some local shoes!!!!!  not made in china  - your whole body will love you

Actually, If you want authentic Italian cooking and don't have an Italian grandmother at home in the attic (or in my case a Polish grandmother who made many authentic Italian dishes so well that her Italian friends from
Our Lady of Mount Carmel preferred her cooking to their own ) --
I would suggest  Trattoria Rustica in Pittsfield, MA.
