BETTER YET!   Call for Cuomo to attend the council meeting!   I bet if Pat Z and Fred Dicker join forces, they could get Cuomo to come to the meeting and hear what the financially struggling homeowners say

All residents from  all of schenectady county need to band together. Call or email Vandenburg 1300 in the morning. Call or email Rooney 1300 in the afternoon. Write editorials. Call the newspapers...not the gazette cause they print with a left slant. And Cuomo won't do sh!t!

Gee, no commment on the secret deals by your buddy dems.  No comment on the violation of the law!!!!!!!!!!!!    No comment on robbing the taxpayer to pad the pension of a guy INELIGIBLE TO EARN OVERTIME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just ANOTHER stealing from the taxpayers by the dumbocrats.

DV. do you support your budddy dems violationg the law, giving a manager OT when it is NOT allowed, by keeping it secret from not only the taxpayers but keeping it hush hush from the council too!   This is what YOUR BUDDY DEMS DO to the taxpayers!!!!!!!!!!!   Financially struggling taxpayers, can't afford to pay their taxes, their houses couldn't sell in this city, residents getting murdered, homes being invaded, ignoring the neighborhoods, and your Savage buddy gives the money to the millionaires.

DV, would YOU tell Cuomo to investigate Stratton for keeping something a secret from the taxpayers that the taxpayers have a birthright entitlement to know about?

Most of all DV, what do YOU think about your close buddy dem cutting fire protection but giving the fire chief a very lucrative pay deal so he can get a pension that is equal to ore more than his base salary????   As long as it taxes the hell out of the financially struggling homeowners, you support it

Fox news was interesting tonight.  Mayor now saying the chief's salary was miscalculated  in the past and we owe the chief another 160K.  Did anyone see the coverage.  It has me confused.

Then the Mayor's spin conference worked. Just listen how he is trying to rationalize this. Mayor says the fire Chief wasn't allowed into a more favorable pension system back in the 90's so this is making up for it. How do you like that? After the Mayor and finance chief both got caught lying, they changed their story from spreading out a $117,000 buyout over three years to save the City from having to pay the full amount in one year to today's NEW story; we are just trying to make up for what we owe him because we didn't buy him into the better pension system over a decade ago... OMG, are you kidding me!

Why the change in their story? It doesn't take a brain surgeon to realize that getting caught intentionally deceiving the NYS pension system could be considered fraud. It would be fraud to misrepresent how an employee earned pensionable salary by stating it was overtime instead of a buyout at the time of retirement due to cashing in unused sick and vacation time.

By allowing the Chief to work overtime, (and they are management and cannot earn overtime per their contract) the Chief would be able to raise his yearly pension an additional $30,000 per year for the rest of his life. If the Chief lived for another 20 years after his retirement, that nice deal would make him an additional $600,000. Pretty good deal huh?

I would like to hear the Mayor answer a few simple questions; Why wasn't this agreement written on paper and voted upon by the city council? How come City Council members were left in the dark about this agreement? Does he thinks it's fair and/or honest to the taxpayers to misrepresent the salary of an employee so he is eligible to earn a much higher pension? Does he think it is honest and legal to report to the NYS pension system that an employee earned his salary working overtime instead of cashing in sick/vacation benefit time upon his retirement (which is unpensionable dollars)? How come he thinks it is ok for the pension system to pay the Chief an additional $600,000 over the next 20 years on cashed in accrued sick and vacation time? Or more than that if he lives longer...

SCHENECTADY
Stratton says he was trying to be fair to chief
BY KATHLEEN MOORE Gazette Reporter

The mayor is now saying he redirected city funds to Fire Chief Robert Farstad out of a sense of fairness.
It was the mayor’s third attempt in two days to explain the situation, which has infuriated City Council members because he spent money they did not approve.
He admitted Wednesday that he intended to give Farstad $117,000 over the next year, which would have allowed Farstad to double his pension when he retires in 2011. Farstad had received $47,000 when Stratton stopped the payments after The Daily Gazette learned of them through a Freedom of Information request.
In a news conference Thursday afternoon, Stratton said he decided Farstad deserved the money because the City Council wouldn’t put the chief into a better pension plan. The plan would have allowed him to take a pension of 70 percent of his final salary, rather than 64 percent.
While Farstad was running the Scotia Fire Department in 1997, the council allowed the rest of the department to go into the more valuable pension plan. But Farstad didn’t get permission to move into that plan when he returned to run the city’s Fire Department in 1998, which Stratton characterized as an “error.” It would have cost the city $160,000 to put Farstad into the plan.
Stratton said that last year he asked the council, behind closed doors, to put Farstad in the better system before he retired.
“My understanding was that there was not a majority of support on the council for that expenditure,” Stratton said. “I made what I believed was a right, fair and equitable adjustment.”
That explanation came after a week of attempts by city officials to describe why Farstad was suddenly allowed to get the pay, characterized as overtime, for work that had previously been part of his regular duties. Every other city manager, including the police chief, does not get overtime. .....................................>>>>..................>>>>.......................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r00101&AppName=1

Mayor SOS made an illegal contract for the sole purpose of ripping off the taxpayers/State pensions system. All the blame goes on the Mayor who cooked up this scheme and refused to disclose it to the rubber stamps on the all DEM City Council. Of course Mayor SOS is raising City taxes another 6%, laying off fire fighters and refusing to get tough with dead beat nonprofits. And he wants a big post in the Cuomo Administration? LOL!

The news conference was a total embarrassment, It proves again that the Public Service Commissioner is a high priced pr flak that we cannot afford. The Mayor needs to resign today. He has confirmed that he is no administrator, cannot budget, and cannot lead. The whole corrupt house is collapsing.

It's is and always has been all smoke and mirrors. If only we could bottle and sell the smoke. But to formulate an illegal contract for the sole purpose of screwing the oppressed City taxpayers is a new low even for this Mayor. How's the response to the tin cup letter to nonprofits? LOL!

There is no way to tap dancing or spin this in a positive way. The Mayor must resign or face a full investigation by both State Comptroller investigators and Attorney General. And we shouldn't have to beg them to do their jobs.

Anyone surprised???

This is what liberal socialists do. They play the victim card....... ALWAYS!!

They use the catch phrases....'He (farstad) has been a good public servant'.....'I was just trying to save the taxpayers'.....'I did it out of a sense of fairness'

Their entire platform is based on EMOTION instead of LOGIC/FACTS!

The funny but sad fact is that the electorate falls for it!!!
