Predictions: The fire chief gets his bigger pension, horrible Mayor SOS gets a pass and McCarthy runs for Mayor. You can't make this up. More rumors of addition nepotism at the golf course and finance department. DEMS continue to run completely amok with the full support of the Gazetto. AM talk radio and the TU demand resignations. Not the Gazetto which continues to make weak borsht.

This is how bad it is. The first comment at the Alliance Party meeting was from some DEM stooge who stated Mayor SOS was justified in screwing the taxpayers for more pay. He actual supported it! $60,000 a year and free JEEP was not enough for this pathetic part time Mayor. Iceburgs ahead-DEMS continue at full speed!

Maybe there is good in state goverment anyway.  Comptroller's office says there was no error made, i.e., Stratton is the one who is wrong.

And the taxpayers most definitely cannot afford to pad the chief's pension.

SO interesting that DV has been silent on this latest incident of attempted rape of the financially struggling city taxpayers,  Has stated that he was not stated his position.  ANYONE who opposes the pension padding would have no problem writing that on this board.  Kind of hard for someone to write that they favor padding the pension of someone whose pension without padding would have been MORE THAN TWICE THE TOTAL HOUSHOLD income of the taxpayers, and because it's so hard to write that, they don't state their opinion.  So, by process of elimination, by not stating opposition, then obviously we know the position

State comptroller's office refutes Stratton's claim of pension error
Thursday, November 25, 2010
By Kathleen Moore (Contact)
Gazette Reporter

SCHENECTADY — The state comptroller’s office has confirmed that Schenectady did not make a mistake when it kept Fire Chief Robert Farstad in a less-valuable pension plan.
Mayor Brian U. Stratton had tried to defend his secret deal with Farstad — which would have nearly doubled the chief’s pension — as a matter of fairness to recompense him for the city’s “error.”
But there was no error, according to the state.
“He wasn’t eligible for the E,” said spokesman Mark Johnson, referring to the enhanced pension plan that other firefighters moved into a decade ago.
Every firefighter who had joined the 384-D plan could move to the enhanced plan. In fact, once the city offered the enhanced plan to anyone, it had to offer it to every employee in the D plan, Johnson said.
“The plan had to be offered to all the employees in the 384-D plan. Mr. Farstad never opted into the 384-D plan,” Johnson said.
City Council President Gary McCarthy said the ruling likely will put an end to any talk of paying the state $160,000 to move Farstad into the better pension plan now. Stratton had urged the council to do that on the grounds that the city had made a mistake.
“But if the city didn’t do something [wrong], some of the responsibility shifts back to the chief,” McCarthy said. “This is the consequence of his actions.”
The city was able to move four other ineligible firefighters into the enhanced plan by getting state legislation passed. The legislation had to list them by name and specifically grant special permission for them to switch plans.
Farstad wasn’t included because he didn’t give the city any concessions to cover the cost of moving to the better plan and city officials weren’t willing to cover the cost. The other firefighters were members of the union, which negotiated a series of give-backs to cover the costs of buying into the plan.
Concessions included two years without raises, a reduced schedule of raises for new hires and the elimination of stipends and holiday pay.
Farstad was a member of management and thus not covered by the union.
If he had been in the better plan, he could have retired with at least $8,000 more in his annual pension, getting about $93,000............................>>>>.........................>>>>........................http://www.dailygazette.com/news/2010/nov/25/1125_statesaysno/

I thought pathetic Mayor SOS stated a mistake was made and the Chief deserved a pension increase. Gary McCarthy called this huge scandal a horrible "misunderstanding" and that the public didn't really understand.

The Attorney General must immediately follow up on the Comptroller's findings that there was no mistake and that the Mayor cooked up an illegal contract to defraud STATE taxpayers. Enough phony excuses and half baked defenses. An illegal contact was formulated and the Mayor got caught lying about it. Repeatedly. Criminal prosecutions must commence.

It would take YEARS for the AG to sift through all of the lies and corruption that plague schenectady county!

And yet the voters still vote them in!! PATHETIC!!

But then again the reps are awol!! And then the reps wonder why these third party lines are starting to pop up!!! They will take hold eventually and hopefully take the place of the impotent schenectady county rep  party.

Everyone is laughing at the stunda's on this joke City Council. The same DEMS that would be screaming for blood if Schenectady had a REP mayor are in the bag for this illegal contract to ripoff the taxpayers. This is what happens when you elect a retired art teacher, retired County employees, retired State employees and no one with any business expertise. Did any of you actually read this budget besides Lauren Stanforth? What did you know and when did you know it?

More of the focus is finally on the Finance Department. Somebody approved this hot mess and everyone else knew about it and looked the other way. The AG is coming to town and someone better start telling all. The entire corrupt DEM house is collapsing. Start scrambling for the life boats. RESIGN!

Bet Pat's letter is already in the circular file. Go directly to the Attorney General. They warned Schenectady "leaders" in the Spring that they would be investigating continued City pension padding abuse.

Nobody listened-no one cared-no one knew from nuthin. The City Council was too busy checking every line item in the budget-lol.

Taxpayer funded attorney's are working around the clock to make sure nothing happens to Stratton. They have called in for reinforcements.

Perhaps pat z is just 'starting' with the DA......maybe there will be a 'plan b'........yes?
At least pat z is doing something about it. We all should be writing letters since no one showed up at the city council meeting with their pitch forks!!!

Do you honestly think that the AG will do anything? For what ever reason stratton leaves office, bet he'll get a higher appointed position. That's what the liberal socialists do.

Kosiur was a failure and he got a cushy created tax paid job!! Ya think stratton will be any different?

Andrew Cuomo stated on the Fred Dicker show that he will investigate. He has investigated pension padding Statewide and sent Schenectady a letter warning them about this in the Spring. They still did it. Mayor SOS will get no employment from the State. Maybe his working together idiots will give him a no show job in the County. He could work with Lumpy Kosiur on the County day camp.

The real outrage is on the rubber stamp City Council. How could they all miss this added line to the budget? The excuses are funny. Try and cook up one story that seems credible. What did they know and when did they know it? Either they were in the bag or they were in total dereliction of duty. Either way they are finished next November.
