Street to close for
water main repairs
    SCHENECTADY — Altamont Avenue between Hamburg and Rutgers streets will be closed to all but local traffic starting at about 6:30 a.m. on Friday to allow for emergency repairs to a water main by the city water department.
    Southbound traffic will be detoured around the construction onto Hamburg Street with posted detour signs, while northbound traffi c will be detoured over Rutgers Street to Michigan Avenue.
    Work is expected to be completed by the end of the day on Friday. Drivers should plan extra time or consider alternate routes during this period, offi cials said.

This should have been today instead of tomorrow, especially considering this is the area that the post office is in.  They would have inconvenienced many less people.  By the way, in case people didn't see, they already started working on the parking lot of the police station, that $65,000 that I questioned why it was in the budget at the meeting.  I've been in that parking lot a few times and I don't see where it needed major reconstructive work, but they're in the process of doing it already.  Isn't the cold going to affect it, possibly make it necessary to fix again sooner than if they did it at a time when the temperature was more hospitable?

City workers are off today which is Veteran's Day. It's bad enough without handing out more overtime.

That parking lot is atrocious!
