Own a piece of history, at a steal By Lauren Stanforth Staff Writer Published: 12:00 a.m., Thursday, November 11, 2010
SCHENECTADY -- A house in the famed General Electric Realty Plot is being auctioned off Friday morning, a rambling 106-year-old structure that is another victim of the economic downturn.
The 6,400-square-foot Colonial at 1273 Stratford Road, which boasts four fireplaces and sits on a rare one-acre city plot, was on the market for a number of years but got no bites.
A bank took over the property in October 2009 and attempted to sell it, at one point asking $379,000 earlier this year. But the home, originally the residence of General Electric employee and National Guard Col. James Andrews, reverted to an auction that will be held at the house at 11 a.m. Friday. City Zoning Officer Steve Strichman said it is likely the first time a home in the historic neighborhood has gone into foreclosure.
"That's such a shock to have that happen in this neighborhood," said Sally Quinn, former president of the GE Realty Plot Association. "You figured there would be someone who would love an old house enough to pay for it."...............................>>>>.......................>>>>.........................http://www.timesunion.com/local/article/Photos-Own-a-piece-of-history-at-a-steal-807729.php

IT'S A MIRACLE !!!!!!!!!
Thank the Savage for the tax giveaways to the rich downtown which then requires the city reisdents to make up the difference, thus causing the city to have practically the highest taxes in the whole country.
The mostly low income people in the city struggle financially trying to pay the property and school taxes for the millionaires downtown, but obviously the wealthier people also can't afford to pay the high taxes caused by Savage giving out the tax exemptions.
While some might say abolish Metroplex, I'm not sure which way I go on that, but this whole downtown re-do stuff needs to return to the pre-savage days when tax dollars were provided as origianlly intended (by Farley and fellow reps), that extra percent or half in sales tax.
The 100% tax exemptions handed out by Savage and company to for-profit businesses, and the money-making nfp's like Proctors has GOT TO STOP NOW, NOT TOMORROW, BUT NOW!
And what is Savage doing to make those guys( who owned the Hotel Foster) to make them pay the delinquent taxes on all their buildings....nothing....instead she and Gillen rewarded them with a quarter of a million dollars of money coming out of the pockets of financially struggling city residents!

I wonder where all of these business owners who are getting their taxes paid for by the already overburdened taxpayers live. Do they all live in the city of schenectady? Or anywhere in schenectady county? |

Look at the list of Metroplex recipients and where they live
Baumgartner/Bombers - Delmar Galesi - Guilderland Mallozzi - Rotterdam Roth - Guilderland Mazzone - Saratoga Blesser- Niskayuna
So basically the mostly out of county residents donate big to the Dems get millions in Metroplex grants and Tax Breaks and the City Residents tax bills keep going up! |

SCHENECTADY -- The owner of an Albany real estate firm made a winning bid of $173,800 to buy a stately Realty Plot home at an auction this morning.
The colonial, at 1273 Stratford Road, was in foreclosure and ordered to be auctioned by NBT Bank.
Louis Narcavage, 35, said he was willing to pay up to $175,000 for the rambling 106-year-old structure on Stratford Road.
The winning bid for the property was $158,000 but with fees the total cost will grow to $173,800.
