ROTTERDAM Tardy residents finding locked doors hinder access to meetings BY JUSTIN MASON Gazette Reporter
Attending the Town Board’s agenda meetings has become somewhat of a chore lately for anyone who doesn’t make it through Town Hall’s front door by the close of business. Since the summer, the door to Town Hall has been intermittently locked during the board’s agenda meetings, which begin immediately after Rotterdam’s municipal offices close at 5 p.m. At times, members of the public attending the meetings have needed to open the door to let any latecomers into the building. Town Hall has a doorbell that can be heard from the board’s agenda meeting room on the second floor. A sign above the doorbell reads “ring for assistance” but there is no other indication that it should be used to access the building during meeting days; there was no sign posted on the door Monday to suggest a public meeting was occurring inside. Supervisor Frank Del Gallo was unsure why the doors have been locked lately or who is locking them. He suspected that a town employee leaving for the day might be locking up without realizing that a public meeting is occurring on every other Monday of each month. “I’m going to find out,” he said following Monday’s board meeting. “I don’t know who locks it.” ................................>>>>>.............................>>>>...................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r00903&AppName=1

Why would they want them unlocked? So rabble can come in and disturb the important work of dictatorship? |

Sausage making is better done in private. Without the rabble. Someone may actually demand accountability. |

ROTTERDAM Ethics panel members latest to find themselves locked out of Town Hall BY JUSTIN MASON Gazette Reporter
Rotterdam’s Ethics Board is the latest group to be locked out of Town Hall. The organization had to move its regular monthly meeting to Tops Diner last week after they couldn’t gain access to the building. And to make matters worse, the chairman says he showed up several minutes before the building’s normally scheduled closing at 5 p.m. “I do not, nor have I ever been in possession of a key to the front door and quite honestly do not feel the need for one if arriving prior to the ‘official’ close of offi ce hours,” Michael Pasquarella wrote in a letter to Supervisor Frank Del Gallo this week. Del Gallo wasn’t sure why Town Hall seemingly closed early on the day in question, which coincided with Rotterdam’s Pearl Harbor observance last week. He said some town workers should have remained in the building at least up until the regular close of business. “It should have never been locked,” he said, “They should all be there until 5.” Residents and media have been periodically locked out of meetings in Town Hall since last summer. At times, members of the public attending the meetings have needed to open the door to let any latecomers into the building. Del Gallo said he’s since talked with Public Works Coordinator Michael Griesemer, who indicated the door should be left open for public meetings. He said most organizations that meet after business hours also have the key to Town Hall, but Pasquarella refused one. “All organizations are supposed to have keys,” he said. .....................>>>>.................>>>>....................................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r01202&AppName=1

Instead of FDG pissing and moaning from his cushy perch on Mariaville Road, maybe HE should come down and lock the doors at town hall at night. |

He locked the doors? Who's he trying to keep out - and WHY?
Does Pigpen have a key?
So much for open and transparent government - being run like a business. |

If FDG is going to insist that everyone remain at work until 5 pm he should start with his own secretary...she is always on extended lunch hours and leaves early all the time. It's bad enough that all she does while there is sit online reading Democrat updates, newspapers and these boards. |

Did they give Pigpen a key when we was "working" as town clerk for a day? |

I'm sure once they have remote access(vpn) from the corner of burdeck and mariaville and the annex in east greenbush the doors to town hall will be left unlocked
the router and server upgrades should be complete by Jan 2 2011 |

Working together works! Working together works! How dare the rabble expect that the TH doors be opened until 5pm? They have to sneak out early to beat the traffic to East Greenbush. |
