I have always agreed with "REDUCE GOVT SPENDING" along with a fair tax system for everyone.
The progressive system of income tax as it is now in place, taxes the rich at a higher percentage than the poor or middle class... at least that's how it's supposed to work.
In reality the richest pay the lowest rate, the poor have none and pay none, the middle class pay for the rich and the poor.

There is no reason that the richest should pay less in income tax rate than the middle class, and if the Right Wingers get their way, that trend will only get worse.

Jack Welch makes $750,000.00 a month in retirement and pays a lower tax rate than a fork truck driver at his old employer, GE.

You're back to class warfare.  What does Jack Welch have to do with governmnet spending?  Read some of my post's on Metroplex and corporate welfare.  I don't play rich guy vs. poor guy. I'm a flat taxer, business deregulator, and beilieve there is no such thing as "too big to fail".

You complain about Jack Welch's retirement, Obama's giving GE $646 BILION in "climate revenue" over the next 8 years.  That should help keeps Jack's pension solvent and MSNBC's Keith Olbermans campaign contributions going to Democrats

The Richest 10% Pay 71% of Federal Income Taxes!!!

..............and this isn't good enough?????

It would make more sense for the government to STOP SPENDING as opposed to taxes one class of people...dontcha think???

Should the rich pay at a lower rate than a working man with a family?
Shouldn't the Rich pay AT LEAST as much as a machinist at GE, or a mechanic at a garage, or a truck driver???

Should the Rich pay at a LOWER rate than people who ACTUALLY WORK FOR A LIVING???

I don't want the rich to pay at a higher rate... I WANT THEM TO AT LEAST PAY WHAT I PAY!

But Bumble wants a man who sits home watching tv all day and  earns his living from his oil investments to pay LESS than a working man or woman.

Can you explain why you want the Rich to pay LESS???
Warren Buffet, one of the richest men in the world pays a lower rate (with out cheating) than his secretary, his cook, his driver and even his accountant.
AND BUMBLE WANTS BUFFET TO PAY EVEN LESS!

How do the rich pay less, yet the top 10% earners pay 71% of federal taxes, and 47%(or 70 million) Americans don't pay federal taxes?  Are the rich paying less than those that don't pay any taxes?  But that would mean that 43% in the middle are paying all the taxes...But if the top 10% pay 71% than how can this be so?

You can play games with statistics until they don't make sense.

Government spending is the problem, not lack of tax revenue.  Tax revenue is increased by growing the economy(GDP) and creating jobs, not by taxing the job producers.

The Obama stimulus paid to keep the bloated public sector pensions solvent, and government workers employed, NOT stimulate economic growth.  The chickens will come home to roost, or America will go the way of Greece.

Boxy boxy boxy.......God bless the executive who can sit home while his business is functioning like a 'well oiled machine'....no pun intended. That just means that s/he hired the people who are more than capable of doing their job! That is a CEO's dream!

Now let's see......hmmmm.........
Married filing jointly.......
$1 - $16,750..............tax rate 10%
$15,751 - $68.000.......tax rate 15%
$68,001 - $137,300.....tax rate 25%
$137,001 - $209,250....tax rate $28%
$209,251 - $373,630....tax rate 33%
over $373,650............tax rate 35%

You want the rich to pay the same tax rate as the middle class????

Sounds like a deal to me....huh???

Bumble...
What you posted is the actual rate from the tax tables.
BUT
as you well know, it's not what the rich pay.

Warren Buffet told his tax men to make out his income tax with out hiding any money, and by doing nothing illegal... just follow the law... His tax men also made out the taxes for the rest of his office
Do ya think Warren paid YOUR 35% Bumble??? Do YA???

~Buffet paid 17.7%
~The average for his office was 32.9%
~No one in Buffets office, from the secretary on up paid as low a tax rate as the Buffet, one of the richest men in the world.

All this with out any attempt to HIDE his income.  Through "creative bookeeping" most top CEO's pay much less than Buffet.

I disagree completely Bumble.

The "perfect storm" would be to inherit the conditions left to GWB at his inauguration.

A budget surplus, not an economic disaster.
A vibrant, expanding stock market, not a stock market on life support.
A fully employed electorate who are interested in bettering America, not a society of unemployed or underemployed scraping for their next meal.

Never in history has any president done "LESS with MORE" than GWB.

Obama took office with no jobs, no money and little hope.  Hardly a Liberal utopia.

the rich democrats like to make everyone think they are willing to 'give up' for the poor poor poor middle class slob and the rich republican wont do
a damn thing.....
as far as I can tell it's semantics and podium pucks on both of their parts......

a flat tax without dumb a** questions such as: "have you opened a business in the City of Schenectady under Metroplex in the past 5 years?" take
100% tax credit......

I dont care what Jack Welch has....and as far as GE goes,,,,they ARE the epitome of Atlas Shrugged....and the union just adds smoke while the
politicos and the company find a way to 'keep it under wraps'......

so if you want to consider yourself a poor poor poor middle class slob maybe your perspective can be righted by moving to another country where you
would be king.......

Senders,
I've lived in other countries... some good,  some a 3rd world disaster.  Since the Bush Economic Meltdown, the USA is moving more and more from the good and into the 3rd world disaster.
In much of the 3rd world and developing countries, there is a very  small rich ruling class, a small and struggling middle class, and a multitude of poor.
The USA has a Rich Ruling class that is growing richer, a shrinking middle class that is growing poorer and joining those already poor.

Keep taxing, it will make it all better since we all know how well the government does with all that money. They will never have to worry about balancing their books again. Double the taxes if according to what you say- raising them is so good!

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

Balancing their books???  Really???

Which president promised us a Balanced Budget???
Ronny the Raygun promised a "balanced budget by '84! A broken promise.  Nor did his successor GH Bush, or the last Repubilcan president GWBush.

Since Reagan's promise to Balance the budget by "84, the only US President to balance the budget is Bill Clinton...  CLINTON BALANCED THE US BUDGET  IN 6 OF HIS 8 YEARS IN OFFICE.

Gee, were those 6 years 94 - 99?  The year Newt Gingrich led the Republican revolution and Contract with America, in response to the 2 years of Clinton leftist policies.  Clinton sign on to a Republican Congress' budget.  That was smart.  Remember Clinton's words "the era of big government was over"

Fast forward to 2008-2010.  Look familiar?

my point being that the government has no right to play Robinhood.....and if you or I were willing to fight to gain what someone
else has....we have choice and freedom to do so.....but there WILL ALWAYS be that top of a pyramid....I have ALOT more than
ALOT of other folks around me(perspectively) and ALOT of folks have ALOT more than me......all I am saying is that we need to
stop our poor pathetic perspective of ourselves, shred the system and its convoluted mess and keep it simple.....

I dont want what you have, and I'm sure you dont want what I have. we have what we have because we have what we have. Life is not
easy, never has been and never will be. Greed and jealousy and envy will always exist. The only one that is a non-mover is jealousy.
Envy and greed although not good in and of themselves ARE fuel for movement and change. In America if you want it, you work for it
you may or may not achieve or obtain it but the choice to fight for your survival and PERSONAL satisfaction is there.

The problem is we have made wants into needs. The scales cannot be balanced by whims and wants. The lack of this education
is astounding.

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......
