I had a chance to attend the ribbon-cutting on the remodeled 5 corner's McDonald's.
It looks great -- the service is great -- and the food was great.

McDonald's was serving breakfast.  The food was great. The service was great.  The place looks awesome.

Can't you nattering nayboobs of negativity be supportive of local small business people for once?   Can't
you be positive about your community instead of constantly TEARING DOWN your town ?

Can't you post in any thread or start a new thread without the self-serving political undertones?  Instead of your "ribbon cutting" couldn't it just have started..."hey, went to the new McD's this morning for breakfast and I was impressed...good stuff".

PS - THIS IS MY HUMBLE OPINION AND I APPROVE THIS MESSAGE!

JUST BECAUSE SISSY SAYS SO DOESN'T MAKE IT SO...BUT HE THINKS IT DOES!!!!!

Amen. Just like the Killean / Judge Severson thread.  Fine, the man died - but nooooo, he had to start something political about it.

Don't get your panties in a twist here! I SAID that mcdonalds and burger king as all fast food CHAINS have their place. 'I'don't eat there no matter where they are located. People go to fast food chains for CONVENIENCE not for their HEALTHY FOOD!

They have their place.

No, he can't.

Quoted Text
A McDonald's franchise owner, Paul Siegfried of Canton, Ohio inserted a handbill with a McDonald's logo at the top, into paycheck envelopes for a handful of employees suggesting they vote for Republicans. The tone of the message was enough to get one person to take it to an attorney.

The paycheck insert given to employees said, "If the right people are elected we will be able to continue with raises and benefits at or above our present levels. If others are elected we will not." Three candidates' names were called out on the flyer, Republicans John Kasich for governor, Rob Portman for U.S. Senate, and Jim Renacci for Ohio's 16th congressional district. As an extra bit of encouragement, a flyer for Renacci was included with it all.

An attorney who represents one of the employees, who was concerned enough to seek help, said he forwarded the paycheck insert to the Canton city law director, citing state and federal laws against such advocacy on the part of companies. Siegfried issued an apology using all the right words one would if you knew a pubic storm was brewing. "Distributing this communication was an error of judgment on my part," his statement said in part.

McDonald's paycheck insert included flyer for Republican congressional candidate

Then came the kicker we've become familiar with when a person doesn't want to admit they had every intention to produce a result that is the cause of the storm."Please know, it was never my intention to offend anyone. For those that I have offended, I sincerely apologize." The next voice heard on the subject was from McDonald's corporate, which was intent on trying to draw a bright line between the multi-national company and a small franchisee, who essentially runs his own business using the McDonald's logo on everything.

"We wholeheartedly respect diverse views and opinion, and our employees' right to vote," Shirley Rogers Reece said from her perch at McDonald's Ohio regional office. "Our position is that every employee should make his or her own choice." She went on to remind everyone that Siegfried is an independent business owner and not a corporate employee.

The problem with Reece's statement is that it overlooks the threat of a hit to employees pocketbooks if they fail to help elect the "right people". It also misses the larger point that there are laws on the subject that look at Siegfried's electioneering as voter intimidation. Ohio's Secretary of State, Jennifer Brunner, said she was launching an investigation because the action appeared to violate Ohio election laws. Voter intimidation, she said, is a form of voter fraud.

There was no political undertones or overtones .. it was community celebration to which everyone was invited.

As far as what I post .. it is my right to post my thoughts.  If you don't like them .. that really is YOUR problem
to deal with .. not mine.
