If you are sincere about unity, there will have to comprimises made.
Truer words have not been spoken. However, Ms. Donovan, as Town Party Chair, this begins with you reaching out to the NNTP candidates from 2009, including John Mertz, and their many supporters. What is needed to right this ship is leadership. Do you have what it takes? Time will tell. |

In the future, I would hope that the slate of candidates endorsed by the republican party will toe the line. Is it wise to through out everyone in the party over one issue? I think not....If you are sincere about unity, there will have to comprimises made.
...is it wise to throw away the traditional-conservative Republican governing principles because of one Ex-Party Chairman? I think not. |

Dear Abe: I presume you are using this name in regards to Lincoln? If so you will not tell a lie...correct? I don't know if I have what it takes to be a great leader but I do know that I am trying my best to unify the party. You are right, Abe ..time will tell. A strong leader is never beholden to one minor party but it is beholden to all of the executive board members and committee members. All of these people are the people who do the work and MUST be considered in descision making. Majority rules and I'm sure you would agree, hence outcomes of elections. Whether I am to be perceived as a good leader will be up for scrutiny I'm sure, particularly after some descisons are finalized. I am reaching out to many folks, all of whom play an integral part in the Republican Party. |

Mertz is now an after thought. He brings NOTHING to the table--anyone's table.

No, I am not a puppet and perhaps I have to clarify once more my stance on Mertz. He was a republican. He was not endorsed ny his own party for many reasons, most of which had to do with him not able to comprimise with his fellow republicans. NOW having said that...he goes ot and primaries. Which is GREATAmerican way. However, he then starts his own party, as an appointed Republican Assembly employee and gets other state appointed republican employees to help him get signatures in an attempt to oust our republican officials. A primary is where it should of ended. Had he NOT been employed with the Assembly, OR had he changed his registration to let us say.... "none"/"independent" ---then BY ALL MEANS start your OWN party. But don't go against your own party! What is the point in joining one? What ever happened to for the "greater" good? When people start setting their VERY own agenda without ANY concessions for others or comprimises, we will see this happen again and again. RIGHT now Mertz is no longer welcome. His agenda is self-serving. had he REALLY had the public's conservative interest in mind he would of had a primary and when he lost he would of conceded and continued to play from within..not tear it down to let the dems win. I'm sorry you might not like my opinion...but it is my opinion (not Gerard's opinion) I think that the other people in the NNT party were misled and they had a right to start their own party --Brian was not a republican and also not employed by the republican party. There is a BIG difference and Mertz knows that. Otherwise he would not have been chastised by his leader Kolb and told to stay out of politics. |

What conservative ideas have local Republicans advanced in the past say -15 years? Father of Metroplex? Increase Metroplex cap? REMS taxing district? PILOT's for businesses?
How about your Republican friend Ang? Baby bottle ban? Calorie count on menu mandate?
I'm sure benny and others can add to the list of Republican government programs.
This is why the Republican Party is dead in Schenectady County. You might as well vote Democrat if you want this kind of pubic policy.
Just curious.....are u a republican? |

Again...conservative on ONE issue? This is not b/c of X-chairman Parisi at all. Actually, not too many people were privy to EXACTLY what went on between Parisi and Mertz ...but quite frankly--after what he had orchestrated, I kind of have a hunch of what "might" have transpired....UGH!! |

'SEVER THE ELECTION EVEN MORE'????? This is a clear admission on your part to confirm what schenectady county is aware of..........GP, with the support of FS...did in fact try to 'sever the election'.......just not 'even more'!! WTH?? Again......not taking responsibility for your failures. Ousting a sitting elected official. Pinning one rep against another - Suhrada/Mertz Campaigning on a taxing district with liberal fear rhetoric. Negative campaigning. Lazy campaigning. .........it was a rotterdam rep shipwreck from the beginning!! And that, ms.donovan, is why independent party lines, such as NNTP and pat z's STOP are springing up and gaining speed and support. There is no where else for the 'real conservative, less government' minded people to go! You are clearly convoluting the facts and are unable to move the rotterdam reps forward! imho of course!
I am So sorry to hear that Bumble! KUDOS to you all..... Pat has a total right to start her own party...I think it would be wise for her to seek a republican endorsement but she doesn't want to !!! That is fine....her paycheck DOES not come from a republican political appointee job.... I say to you......please ......STOP give me a break...talk about trying to be convoluted!!!! please! |

Aren't you embarrassed by Angelo? You guys endorsed him - and your trying to sell me Mertz has a problem with compromise? It's rumored the former Supervisor had Angelo signs on his lawn. Don't you feel a little bit guilty using committeepeople time and money for GP's B.S. primary to dirty George and help Ang? Do you see what kind of joke your party has become? Your endorsements are responsible for losing 2 county seats - Suhrada and truncoat Santabarbara. Can't blame that on Mertz. You claim Mertz single handedly derail the Rotterdam ticket, yet you don't want him on your team? If he was able to organize and motivate 4 guys on row E, imagine what he could do leading a major party. Your Party leadership couldn't organize a trip to the bathroom. |

Ms donovan, First and foremost, Mertz was NOT the originator of the nntp!!! REALLY!! You are trying to re-write history yet again!!
Second, are you saying that Mertz should have primaried for the rep line? He was already publicly ousted by GP and replaced for endorsement by his own brother republican, x-county legislature suhrada. How did that work out, huh?
So it would appear that Mertz took the respectful high road. Unlike GP (the x-rotterdam rep chair, now sitting town board member) who primaried for the assembly seat JUST to dirty up GA (another brother republican) so his dem buddy AS could win???? And how did that work out, huh?
You have GOT to be kidding!!
If mertz could single handedly organize and pull off this alleged coup and change the entire political landscape of rotterdam.......than you ms. donovan, and the rest of the reps, should be knocking down his door to be the rep county chair!!!
You people are nuts! IMHO of course! |

TAke Mertz and Littlefield out of the discusson if you plan to resurrect the party. Mertz is over. Only good thing you can say is he was willing to serve and when he was on the Ethics Board many of us had faith in him and hpe that he would be "that guy" that we all looked to for reason and justice. Instead he truned out to be "that guy" who was nothing more than a narcisistic and power hungry politician...a big fish, so to speak, in a small pond. And empty suit.
Littlefield was another sham. But he was even worse. He tried to pretend he was so much more--a savior of peace and justice, level-headed, devoid of the mean streak that many reps live by, a kind of politician for all peple and all parties. But there again--CON man.
Move on--new blood. Don't know this Donovan(because I am a Dem) but good luck to you. But I would be very careful to say anyone is "OUT." You are in charge but I would listen to the others so they can have their voices heard. Should be room for ALL REps/Cons at your table.... They just shouldn't have a leadership role because you shoulod have learned by now their leadership did not work--NEITHER DID TOM BUCHANAN! Is he still around? |
