If Republicans take back control of the House and maybe even the Senate, it will return American politics to its standard state... divided government.
In the 21 Congresses after LBJ's presidency, one party has held full control of the House, Senate, and White House just six times. Also since LBJ, the longest one party has controlled those three bodies is just for four years (1977-1981 and 2003-2007).
And get this: Every time a party has had control of the three bodies, it ended in a wave election for the other side (1980, 1994, and 2006). So is what we're witnessing just American politics returning to its natural state?

The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral
philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.

I want checks and balances! I do not like a one party rule no matter what party it is!

I believe that the GOP will at least regain control of the US House of Representatives .. and probably
come very close to regaining the US Senate -- it will end up  51-49 (either Dem or GOP) or 50-50.
That will make it next to impossible for any major legislation to pass Congress -- call it gridlock or
whatever.  With 34 Senate seats and all the House up for election -- I am sssuming that a number of
"familiar faces" will leave the stage after the election and be replaced by a possibly large sea of new
faces .. some destined to become the major voices and leaders of BOTH the Democratic and Republican
parties -- and who knows, maybe a new third party.

More interesting will be the results of Gubernatorial and State Legislative races across the country --
since this is where the "pool" for future national leaders is located.  Also, the state legislatures will be
redrawing House district lines next year.    The "pool" of future national leaders and the way the house
district lines are redrawn will set the ... tone  or complexion .. of the political map for the next decade.
