Verizon's FiOS television service should start in the first quarter of 2011, thanks to a new agreement.

Watch out Time Warner, FIOS is gonna rox your boat!

I am happy with my Time Warner .... but own stocks in Verizon ... so either way its win-win.

I like time warner's products and their service is far superior to any other communications company!!. I hate verizon's service and would never change to them.

But look at your bill from 5 years ago compared to today.

TW's prices seem to have gone up much faster than inflation.

(Yes a decent part of that is content providers "extorting" the distribution channels...)

I look forward to competition...

FiOS TV is coming to Capital Region
October 20, 2010 at 10:58 am by Larry Rulison

Verizon’s FiOS TV will be coming to the Capital Region after all.

Last week, the Scotia Village Board approved a cable TV franchise to Verizon, paving the way for the New York City-based telecommunications firm to provide TV service to the village.

The move, which would directly challenge Time Warner Cable and cable satellite companies, was unexpected since Verizon had previously indicated that it was not planning to offer TV in the region after bringing it to New York City, Buffalo and Syracuse.

Verizon now says that FiOS TV will be available in Scotia starting in early 2011 and that it will be seeking franchises in other local municipalities.
