Farley Took $3,000 per Meeting as Banking Chair, More than $80,000 on Junkets Rotterdam – Just days after it was revealed that 34-year Albany incumbent Hugh Farley billed local taxpayers at least $80,000 for his taxpayer-funded vacations to Hawaii (3 times), Disney World (at least twice), and Las Vegas, public records now show Farley also collected nearly $3,000 per meeting of the Senate’s Banking Committee.
Pocketing an additional $15,000 annual “stipend” on top of his part-time salary of $79,500, it has also been learned there is no record of what was discussed during these rare Committee meetings, including transcripts of debates on legislation or whether meetings lasted more than 5 minutes.
Senator Farley took nearly $150,000 the last 10 years he chaired the committee.
“It’s time we took a closer look at how Senator Farley and long-time incumbents have been spending the taxpayers’ money,” said Susan Savage, candidate for the 44th Senate District and Chairwoman of the Schenectady County Legislature. “Records from his decades in Albany are almost impossible for the public to access, and now we know why – they show that after 34 years there is a clear pattern which taxpayers cannot afford.”
Susan Savage added, “Senator Farley needs to stop misleading the public about his spending record and explain why, at the height of the banking meltdown as his own constituents were in foreclosure, his committee met so rarely even as he continued to collect his stipend.”
The committee stipend (or “lulu” as it is known) was upped from $11,000 to $15,000 annually around the same time legislators approved salary increases in 1998.
Senator Farley actually attempted to give himself another salary increase in 2007 tying raises for legislators to judges, but that effort was blocked.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."
There WAS no debate as far as the electorate is concerned. They have already made up their minds on who they will vote for. And the polls show that the majority goes to Farley.
It was clearly nothing more than a cheerleading rally with less than 100 people there. It was a waste of time. Savage should save her campaign money, because she is done! IMHO

Anything the League of Communist Voters does should be ignored. No one cares about any debates. Everyone is voting for Senate Farley-women, Niskayuna residents, black voters. SS Savage has no more money. She has no support and has finally been unmasked as a horrible DEM partisan who destroyed this County. While the Gazetto looked the other way.
The Regressives are pathetic --- they claim to want to stop wasteful government spending ..but then defend one of their own -- Hugh Farley -- when he wastes MILLIONS of tax payer dollars ..and admits that he did NOTHING about unfunded state mandates for 34 years .. but maybe he will if we give him another 2 years on the state gravy train.
Furthermore, Farley admits that he was "part of the problem in Albany" --- what more evidence do you need ??? Farley must go.

SS had a $125 k state job that she was not qualified for, appointed by Spitzer after holding a fundraiser for him.
Cool ... I think I will hold a fundraiser for Andrew Cuomo.
