Teens injured
Friday night
remain silent

SCHENECTADY — A teenager was treated for a slash wound to his face following an altercation around 10:30 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Foster Avenue and Nott Street.
According to police spokesperson Adriel Linyear, there was a fi ght that left two teenages injured. One was found at the scene beaten and then transported to Ellis Hospital.
Later in the night another victim walked into Ellis hospital with a slash wound, but both were released on Saturday, said Linyear.
The police do not have any witnesses to the disturbance and the victims were not helpful. Linyear expressed doubt about the attackers being caught without cooperation from the victims.
At about the same time Friday a large disturbance drew police to the Yates Village complex off Van Vranken Avenue. Dispatchers called Niskayuna police for backup as patrol cars converged, but no serious incidents were cited later.
Police offered no information on the incident Saturday.

Wow.   And DVOR says it's perfectly fine to keep giving over our tax dollar to all those rich businesses downtwon.

Explain your reasoning DVOR, for saying that cutting the spending on police protection while giving our money to the rich politically connected is better for the city?

See, PROOF POSITIVE....the more tax dollars of ours giving to those connected to YOUR dems, the more crime that happens in the city.

Click here for information from citydata.com. The crime rate data shows that Schenectady crime incidents were up in 2008, higher than all previous years (except 2005).

That information is supported here at idcide.com. Both sites will also show that Schenectady crime rates are consistently above not only the state average, but the national average as well.

I thought about a conversation that I had with a friend a while back. This is someone who lives in Schenectady, and has for just about all of his 40 years. A few years back, we talked about going to get dinner near McClellan street, where he once lived. He said to me, “I wouldn’t walk down there at night.” This is not an easily intimidated guy – and he grew up in Hamilton Hill. If he feels that way, my guess is other people do, too.

Many people don't even drive in that area. Stopped going to the Lady of mt carmel feast and stopped eating at Farrari's, just like people stopped eating at Petta's.

It is obviously clear that all of the millions of taxpayer's dollars that went into the 2 blocks of state street has just given the drug addicts, prostitutes and pan handlers just another populated place to do business. And let's not forget the shooters that are still running loose in schenectady county!!

THAT....is called 'working together'! IMHO

This may not be related to gangs but it is downtown.  Late Sat night (Sunday) there was a fight near Bombers  two arrested, one resisted arrest, bet there will be a law suit.  Then a little while later there was another fight upstairs in Bombers.  The place closed for the night.  Not sure if manager closed it or police requested it or it was their regular time to close.  Around 1am.

Guess since it happened so late at night it might not get in the papers and news.

Fights happen all the time in Schenectady, no one seriously hurt, no gun shots but it is high visibility metroplex baby.

THAT didn't happen. It was a dream. Submit yourself to mind control and it will all be better, and the miracle will continue unabated.

Oh, so then you think the taxes should be raised even more, in order to keep the police, etc.

My statements are UNDISPUTABLE FACTS, not lies.

It is an UNDISPUTABLE FACT that tens, probably in excess of 100 MILLION of OUR TAX DOLLARS has gone into the couple blocks of downtown
It is an UNDISPUTABLE FACT that the rich, politically connected businesses and developers --- the FOR PROFIT business -- are largely exempt from paying property taxes.
It is an UNDISPUTABLE FACT that as the rich are absolved from paying taxes, that the lower income Schenetady residents are being forced to cover the cost for the rich that don't pay.
It is an UNDISPUTABLE FACT that as the taxes are increaed on the lower income people of the city, that the people are having necessary services cut.
It is an UNDISPUTABLE FACT that as necessary services are cut from the areas where people live, that more tax dollars are going to downtown.
It is an UNDISPUTABLE FACT that as more tax money has been poured into downtown, that crime has gone up in the neighborhoods
It is an UNDISPUTABLE FACT that as more money is poured into downtown, that people are leaving the city in droves, that the vacancy rate is way above anything that is accetable.
It is an UNDISPUTABLE FACT that the money poured into downtown has resulted in Schenectady getting worse.

By the way, DV, the people on Soc Sec for the second year in a row will NOT be getting an increase.    But they will be forced to pay a HUGE tax increase on their own property IN ADDITION to paying a brand new tax, and IN ADDITION to paying the taxes of the rich politically connected downtown, IN ADDITION to covering the amount of the tax increase on the rich politically connected downtown.     NOW, DV, explain HOW do YOU justify making the low income people pay all these tax increases while the rich politically connected are exempt!

Thanks Cel for the information. This is something people in schenectady county will never read about in the daily rag! IMHO
THANKS AGAIN!
