Civic Center?-lol-Let Glens Falls pay for that money pit. Every "improvement" is another governmental building. DVOR doesn't understand basic separation of powers. It's up to the legislative branch to enact a budget-not the Mayor. When there hasn't been an elected REP for years it's getting harder to put the blame on them. At least admit you made many mistakes.

35 years of continuous DEM control of the City Council. Was the City better in 1975? How about Mt Pleasant and Bellevue? ROTFLMAO!! There's no way to defend the complete fiscal incompetence of these DEMS. Highest taxes and they can't pay for basic police and fire because of all the pork barrel spending. 36 cars to ferry the out of towners. A Mayor that increases his travel slush fund while cutting firemen. Hit the door on the way out.

I haven't made any mistakes in running either the city, the town, or the county  BECAUSE I HAVEN"T RUN
ANY OF THOSE.     If I was elected to a position and made a mistake -- then I could and would admit
to any mistakes.
You can hit the door on the way out since you seem to hate the place so much --- I am staying in the
town and the county that I love.

Since it is obvious that marcella's is one of the chosen few, does that mean they will NOT have to pay a curb tax, being that they pay no taxes at all??!!??

Can someone answer this one? If schenectady's local government and local businessman was REALLY trying to rebuild Mt Pleasant, WHY would they move a prominent business OUT of the area? Why didn't they build and improve the area 'around' Marcellas? Why would they purposely leave another vacant building that will clearly attract the scum?

Our family and many of our friends will not shop at marcellas again!

Are you saying you have not run for office?   Hmmmm

Kind of easy, also, to talk about how great it is that so many lower income people pay the property taxes of the rich, when the person who alluding to the so called benefits of exempting the rich from taxes, doesn't seem to have any record in the county of paying taxes himself, huh?

If one read slowly and carefully --- one will be able to comprehend the simple statement that I made in
plain English  ---  I have not held an elective position in either the city, the town, or the county.

Ya, the people rejected his ideas and his candidacy several years ago, so he's resorted to becoming a mouthpiece and minion.

Ah ha, now I understand.

Now, when he talks about taxes, he obviously doesn't know, because there seems to be no record of him paying taxes in the town or county

Schenectady residents already paying too much

Re Oct. 6 article, “Stratton’s ‘curb fee’ idea draws hesitant support”: So the Schenectady budget for 2011 is out for all to see and once again our taxes are going up. We are supposed to be glad it’s only 4 percent, but wait — and there always is a but — we are going to have to pay yet another fee: a curb fee, for plowing and paving. When was the last time your street was paved? And we know how the snow plowing goes.
I was told by a council member that this is a way to get nonprofits to pay a share, as they are tax-exempt. Don’t buy that, as homeowners are being hit the hardest. We are already taxed and fee’d to death. If they want to go after tax-exempt properties fine, but leave the already-overtaxed citizens alone.
As the city owns the sidewalks, I propose that homeowners and businesses bill it for maintenance and upkeep. We have to shovel and sweep them, and if the sidewalk needs to be replaced, we have to pay for a permit; so we are paying the city to repair or replace something they own. Enough is enough. Schenectady residents must make their voices heard. Call the mayor and council members and let them know how we cannot afford any more taxes and fees. Because if we stand idly buy, there will be new fees next year and the year after.
And don’t forget to vote on Election Day. We need some new faces with good ideas on how to really balance the budget in Schenectady.

"they" wold be DV's buddy dems

However, a city council is supposed to be elected by the people.  Unfortunately, in Schenectady the council is made up of mostly all appointed reps.  Sorry, DVOR, but contrary to your dem party buddies, this is wrong.  How can appointed legislators be reppresentative of the people?   Just need to hope that in the city, the dems aren't blind and realize that the appointed council is NOT representative of the people, is NOT working in the best interest of the cititzens---certainly NOT when they raise the taxes on the lower income people while exempting the rich from paying taxes.

If people in the city had a brain, they would elect Pat 99.99% to 0.01%.  Yes, she exposes all the wrong, just like she exposed the secret attempted salary raise for the mayor and found that it was indeed against the law to do that.

THe city needs seven Pat Zollingers on that council

I speak for myself and my only interest is in serving my community -- which I can prove by the hours
of VOLUNTEER service that I do.   Never been anyone's puppet.

As for you saying that the "people rejected his ideas" ???     I don't believe that is the case.  Every
one of the points that I campaigned on -- are still things that people want .. lower taxes, sound
economic development, providing quality services for the taxes paid, and a government that is
open and transparent.

Which of those things do you Regressives reject ????????
