Stratton should just get it over with and tax the air we breathe

Re Oct. 6 article, “Stratton’s ‘curb fee’ idea draws hesitant support”: Hey, Brian, how ‘bout taxing (oops, assessing fees for) oxygen? We have an endless supply, and it’s safe for the environment.
Set a base rate for everyone, and then a surcharge for people with animals, or people who are more active and use up more oxygen (joggers, bikers, etc.). Married couples and those living together would pay a “heavy breathing” surcharge.
He would not have to lay off the cops and firemen; station them on the perimeters of the city to monitor non-Schenectady people coming into the city and sucking up our oxygen. Fees collected from these potential oxygen thieves should more than pay for salaries and expenses.
As ridiculous as these suggestions are, much more ridiculous for me — and maybe other Schenectady residents — would be to hope that Stratton will do his job, live within the city’s means and not give lamebrain excuses why he can’t.

The churches should send the city a bill for the social services that we provide city residents.

"Hope that SOS will do his job"-he can't do the job-don't you get it YET?

Forget about dying Rochester. Look to the South to see what they are doing right. The curb tax is DOA. Start clearing out the dead wood in City Hall. Mayor SOS is finished and can forget about a third term. 8 years is too much. Other doubling dipping clapping seals on the useless City Council should be setting retirement plans. Get out and let REP/CONS business people replace you.

Instead of slamming every Church in the City work out a PILOT with fat cats Union, Ellis and Proctor's. Because Mayor SOS was afraid of Union College every parish will now get slammed. Totally unacceptable. This will only mean more closures. Some "renaissance"?

The churches are the backbones of the neighborhoods  ...  Saint Adalbert's and Mount Carmel are
struggling to keep Mont Pleasant "above water".

Saint Adalbert's owns 5 acres of undeveloped land behind its cemetery on Hamburg St in Rotterdam --
maybe it is time that we fold up the tent on Crane St and build a new church in Rotterdam.

What?    What's this?   Leave Schenectady for the suburb?    But you said that your dems  have improved Schenecctady so very much (by stealing from the low income taxpayers in order to give to the rich politically connected businesses).

So why would you ever remotely suggest that your parish leave the city you claim is so much improved?

Doubtful that a new one could get built anyway, you'll be closed within a couple years anyway, perhaps not even a year more

Struggling is the key word. Where are the members of the clergy on this stunada SOS proposal? Silent-all hiding in the tall grasses. All we ever hear from is Rev Grisby who is a clapping seal for more taxes and fewer meetings. He actually stated that fewer summer City Council meetings are a "good idea".

We need a interfaith council led by the dynamic Father Morrette to denounce the tax and spend dunces that support soaking churches, temples and mosques. This will accelerate the decline of every City neighborhood. This also shows how useless the DEM cap on taxes plan is. NY DEMS always find unique new ways to reach into the sheeple's wallet.

Nothing has improved. The plan to steal money from the working class to give to favored developers is a total failure. Everyone seems to know this except the Gazetto. No new jobs-no improvement in sales tax revenues-no improvement in County property values.

There is a 6 bedroom-3 bath mansion in the GE Realty Plot for $199,000! Taxes are higher than the mortgage payment. The City is in total free fall from SOS and 35 straight years of DEM "leadership" of City Council. They are clueless about how to right the sinking ship.

Yeah, he's for increasing taxes on the lower income working people in order to give to those too lazy to work

Wait a minute there, the DEMS have improved Schenectady SOOO much, that they need to start billing for their magnificence! Somehow their miracle included anointing all of the land in Schenectady - hence the "curb fee". I'm just wondering if Marcella's and Proctors will have to pay this curb fee? I'm guessing they'll be exempt somehow, even though they have the newest curbs around!

You're welcome.

Right they have improved it soo much they are all making exit plans. Calling real estate offices. looking at Saratoga County property. The DEMS are all frauds. Once Savage gets crushed watch the chain reaction. They don't have the guts to confront her to her face. The entire corrupt DEM house of cards will collapse. Those left will have to clean up after the tax and spend orgy.

This year the city will tax them on the curb length, next year the sidewalk, then any dirt that's visible from the street, and when there's nothing left to tax it will be the air we breathe.

Mt. Pleasant is the new hamilton hill!!! Now savage and stratton are out making false statements on how wonderful schenectady
is.
Well if it was so damn wonderful....why the hell would ANYONE suggest to move a church out of that area?!!?? It would lead people to believe that the area REALLY IS THAT BAD and that even the churches should jump ship!!!

Hence proving that savage and stratton have clearly lied to the people!! IMHO
