I think Dick Cheney played a roll in the landslide.  You know the connection.  Gas station = oil = middle east = Hiliburton = black ops = government inside job = DICK CHENEY!

Manning, volunteer CEO for Metroplex, doesn’t merit bad rap

Re Oct. 3 article, “Team effort cited in county’s renewal”: Once again, trash from [Schenectady County Legislature Chairwoman] Susan Savage and [Golub Corp. president and CEO] Neil Golub.
Over six years ago, my father, John Manning, was appointed by a board through a diligent interview process as chairman and CEO of the Metroplex Authority. Golub and Savage would lead you to believe that under his leadership, nothing was done for downtown Schenectady — stating he was inept but a nice guy.
He was a retired NiMo executive and served as chairman and CEO for 40-plus hours a week for nothing! Not a dime! He was a volunteer! He was also the chairman of the Schenectady County Chamber of Commerce as a volunteer, served 12 years on the Mohonasen school board and on the regional board of the YMCA — all of this on his own time without pay. He lives in Rotterdam but supported downtown to help Schenectady County.
What this boils down to is the county Legislature wanted more control of the Metroplex Authority to use the money however it wanted, and Neil Golub was always angry that he was not made the head of Metroplex. Susan Savage made a special position for Ray Gillen to the tune of $130,000 a year by combining it with the county economic development and planning position.
Under John Manning, over 1,000 jobs were retained and created. My father had a transparent approach for all downtown approval processes while many of the deals currently being made are behind [closed] doors.
MVP was brought downtown because of John Manning — not Ray Gillen and Susan Savage — as were many other, larger endeavors they are still taking credit for six years later. Check the facts and ask why a volunteer did this for nothing but now a county and city that needs to cut jobs and raise taxes has a paid position to the tune of $130,000.
By the way, the day this article was published, John Manning had volunteered his time to collect donations for the Electric City Detachment Marine Corps League to be used for local charities in need.
I’ll take John Manning and that kind of dedication to community over Susan Savage any day.

Again, Metroplex is simply a self-serving DEM machine with lots of money to spend on their constituents. When does Kosier get his job as Supreme Emperor of Metroplex Development?

This is $10 million dollars stolen from the taxpayers for what? To give huge tax breaks to Proctors, Golub and other downtown businesses. Let's see if Malozzi gets a curb fee for the new sidewalks near his place. I'm guessing not!

This is a typical DEM trick. They don't like the truth coming out so they go off topic. That mudslide was a tragedy caused by a combined March rainstorm and snow melt. The real question is what moron proposed putting the County DSS building one block from this landslide area? Death Ray and SS Savage! They don't care about anything except feathering their own nests and helping friends. Manning did a much better job for free than these idiots are doing for huge salaries.

Albany County announced today that it will attempt to sell its County Home and get out of the County Home business, which is costing them $19 million a year. They want to go to home care -not institutional care. Meanwhile back in the stunad County NOTHING happens. SS Savage is still hell bound on building. Probably on Curry Rd if more town "leaders" don't speak up. Glenville stopped it. What you gonna do? Probably nuthin and let a prime piece of real estate be yanked off the tax rolls forever.

That was a good letter. Sounds like Savage just keeps making people angry at her all over the place.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

SS Savage is a Schenectady County Bella Abzug. The people that know her best are all voting for Sen Farley. Niskayuna will go for Sen Farley! She will win-nothing.

Savage is a "for-the-rich" version of that Maxine, oh, (the last name is on the tip of my tongue but I can't stick my tongue out that far to see it), from California I think---she's kind of the female Al Sharpton, well Savage is the "favor the rich" counterpart to that Maxine

Bella Abzug was a great Congresswoman .. so that means you are saying that Susan Savage is
a great County Legislator and will be a great State Senator.

BTW -- Manning was in charge of Metroplex when the design for the narrowing of State Street in the
400 Block was approved --- sorry to rain on your parade but the facts are the facts.   The project was
approved and begun during Jurzynski's waning administration.

Savage is only for the 'chosen rich'!!! They all have to belong to the 'friends and family club'!! Hence.......the 19th highest taxed county in the country. Now that's a record you can be proud of, huh???

I can start  quoting the  many rich persons and  rich banks that have given  tens of thousands to
Mr. Farley's  campaign fund   --- most of his campaign money comes from Banks and Financial Services
companies  ... mmmmmmmmm.. which is interesting because he used to be Chairman of the State
Senate's committee that oversaw banks and finance

I would say that Mr. Farley is the one .. "only working for the rich people" and the big corporate banks.

According to the Times Union, New York Property Tax Finder:
                                               Property Taxes
434 State Street, Proctors:          $ 4.00 (yes, that's 16 quarters)

560 Broadway, Marcellas:            $416.00

447 State Street, Bombers:         $22,318

226 Broadway, Villa Italia            $34,275

154 Jay, Ambition                      $9,003

112 S. College, Clinton's Ditch     $14,858

124 Jay, Pizza King                    $13,181

33 N. Jay, Precca's                     $6,878

Couldn't even find some of the Plex projects on the tax roll (Aperitivio, Lennon's).

just citing Marcella's as an example ---- you have to ADD to the property tax .. the amount of sales
tax that this business generates for the county

If Marcella's sells a $1,000 appliance --- that generates $40 in local sales tax --- and I am sure they
sell quite a bit of merchandise each year.

I f Marcella's had mover OUT of Schenectady County -- that sales tax revenue would have moved OUT of
the county, too.

That's a load of crap and you know it! Marcella's is receiving a HUGE tax break which in turn falls upon the rest of the City to upsurp. I say let Marcella's go! Get a business in their that will (1) pay the required taxes for that location (well over $50K) AND (2) bring in sales revenue! That's helping the City. Schenectady is not in the financial position to give away business space.

Uh, sales tax is NOT paid by the businesses!!!!!!!!!!!!   The tax comes from OUR pockets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But then you need to be informed, these politically connected are given HANDOUTS of OUR TAX MONEY to move a few blocks or a few miles, and then on top of that they are exempt from property taxes.

And the net effect is still a loss.  The amount of money given out in handouts and given out in property tax exemptions far exceeds the amount coming back in sales tax from these businesses.

So, OK, DV, you talk about how it is oh so wonderful to get all this sales tax money.

Tell us what the sales tax has done for Schenectady?????

All this sales tax you talk about and it has resulted in:

1.   Increases in property tax
2.   A trash fee tax.
3.   More increases in the property tax and then an increase to the trash fee tax
4.   This year an increase in the property tax again, continuation of the trash fee tax, and now the institution of a curb fee tax.
5.   Lower property values (hmmmm but the taxes go up)
6.   Increased crime
7.   Cuts in police protection at a time when crime is skyrocketing
8.   Streets too unsafe to walk
9.   Parks and playgrounds where it's too unsafe for children to play
10.  Cuts in fire protection for the aging city homes
11.  Dramatic increases in the vacancy rate of housing
12.  People leaving the city iin droves
13.  Increased abandoned homes
14.  Lower graduation rate in the school system

And you think sales tax and all the other handouts are improving the city?????    Give us the criime rate stats.  Tell us how our property taxes have been lowered.  Tell us how property values are going up.  Tell us how much safer the streets are.  Show us where people are scrambling to buy homes in the city.  Well, can you do that?????   HELL NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
