GLENVILLE, N.Y. -- A volunteer coach at Scotia-Glenville High School has been accused of an inappropriate relationship with a district student, officials revealed Wednesday.
Police say 50-year old David Kennedy, assistant coach of the school's varsity field hockey team, is facing eight charges of consensual sexual contact with a 15-year old female student.
The charges include two counts of third-degree rape, four counts of third-degree criminal sexual act, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
The relationship between Kennedy and the teen was apparently discovered by the victim's mother, who found related text messages on the girl's cell phone.
A Scotia-Glenville district press release says Kennedy has two children who attend the high school.
