The nazis were not atheists, they were predominantly Catholics, and Lutherans, which is is big part of why, despite my 12 years, and then some of Catholic school, I gave up Catholicism for lent.

Boiling down history to the lowest common denominator does not make for truth. Nazis and the National Socialist movement were in no way about Christianity, Catholicism or even the existence of anything higher than a pagan notion tied to the indigenous concept of Volk.
I suggest you get educated. Having been baptised a Christian does not make one a Christian, especially when as a young man one renounced their faith (Kirchenaustritt.) All Schutzstaffel men, whether Waffen, Allgemeine, Tottenkopf or what not renounced faith in their church of birth upon entry. Period. Gives you a little bit of framework by which the heart of National Socialism operated. Make no mistake the SS was the heart of the Nazi order.
I, being not a real card carrying Catholic myself, being greatly suspicious of organized religion, am quick to defend the truth, because all too often the truth is run roughshod over by current day liberalism in an attempt to invoke relativism, which I firmly disagree with.

Nazi's used religion and it's ability to cover-over one's own mind and deluding a person if that person allows it.......they exploited it to the max and then renamed it their form of 'nationalism'.....and this is why the US government has to keep ANY religion at arms length and keep the coals cool......NO RELIGION IS MORE EQUAL THAN ANOTHER.......
the failure of religion is in it's leaders and those who refuse to learn and learn that they are rational humans......looking for God is what religion IS.....the rest is just doctrine.....JMHO
