I live in a small house that is paid for b/c I don't want to pay $12,000 in taxes, Biaggio. You sound like your friends, Mallozzis and DelGallo the way you b**ch about it. Then you want new water tanks, gigantic parks, streetscapes and more, and figure it won't increase your taxes! Too funny.

DVR--too rough on GB. Though GB is right of Attila the Hun, he often makes very good sense relative to local issues.
I haven't seen that side of him/her.

We have what we have and we choose what we have. It is our responsibility to make sure that we can afford to pay for the things we 'choose' to have.

I BEG TO DIFFER HERE WITH YOU.....You apparently haven't been answering my posts and rants about the sloven Hamburg street......and Biag knows what I am talking about....they used to live over here.......and yes I agree with GB....Rotterdam has a bunch of 'big fish' who b**ch like they didn't know about the taxes....really?... what kind of business folks are they if they couldn't see that.....maybe they overpurchased for their own pockets.......I'M shocked when FDG says he is shocked about his taxes.....how ignorant of him.....you have what you have because you have what you have.......
as for the value of what we get for our taxes.........WHERE IS IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Biag....after the Hamburg St fiasco dont hold your breath......and if the juction has a "Mayor" like Hamburg street lets see how many $$ disappear for a slap on the back
...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......
The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.
STOP BEING GOOD DEMOCRATS---STOP BEING GOOD REPUBLICANS--START BEING GOOD AMERICANS
I have already commented on the differences between the BOA Study for Rotterdam Junction and the previous studies done for Hamburg Street. The BOA Study HAS funds attached to do all of the preliminary work and to start some of the implementation. By virtue of the Junction being in the BOA Study Area, it will be at the FRONT of the line for further federal, state, and local grants.
THE BOA STUDY WILL PRODUCE RECOMMENDATIONS THAT WILL BE IMPLEMENTED --- THE JUNCTION WILL SEE POSITIVE BENEFITS FROM THE STUDY.
As for Hamburg St, I was not a part of any of the previous studies nor am I part of the present planning. I do have an interest in the improvement of Hamburg St as my parish owns a cemetery (10 acres developed -- 5 undeveloped that may be available for sale in the future). Unfortunately, I do not have the time in my busy schedule to be involved directly in the planning for Hamburg Streets redevelopment.

Don't worry -- lots of folks in Rotterdam are sincerely interested in the future of Rotterdam Junction and the future of the whole town. Don't let the negative folks who post here bring you down.

The fact is that the water tank in the junction had to be replaced -- it was leaking ... too the point that water pressure was dangerously low in the event there was a fire up there.
The fact is that the town does have 78 acres of "parkland" already -- at the Bonded Concrete site ... it doesn't have any access for public safety vehicles now ... a person could have an accident or drown and it would be difficult to rescue them. The state also has over 60 acres of undeveloped land (except for the 3 acres we call Woestina Park) along the river --- we are only developing options to a) make the Bonded site a SAFE passive park ... and b) add some amenities to the "canal corp/Woestina park land" .. The work at the Bonded Site would NOT cost the taxpayers a penny and would REDUCE the potential legal liability the town currently faces if someone were to be injured or drown on the property --- and the town would get $400,000 to $500,000 from the company which could be used to make the improvements that we are anticipating on the "canal corp/Woestina Park lands. We can also use the value of the work done to remediate the Bonded site to put towards the local match when we apply for private, state, and federal grants for our Park plan --- all things that would reduce or eliminate any actual cost to town taxpayers.
Streetscape and other improvements in the Junction will qualify for private, state, and federal grants because of the BOA Study Process that we are a part of --- again costing little if anything to town taxpayers.
Therefore, you allegations that these will increase taxes is .. quite frankly .. untrue.

no your right...it will increase all over the board......where does the upkeep of the park come from? heaven?
There are ways to use parks to produce revenue for the town -- that would offset any operation costs.
