Pope in the UK: Atheists Like Nazis

In the midst of loud protests and thinner crowds than those that turned out for John Paul II's visit to the United Kingdom in 1982, Pope Benedict compared modern U.K. atheism with the rise of Nazi Germany — warning against "aggressive secularism," according to a report in the U.K.'s Mirror.

pope, benedict, nazis, rageIn his opening address to the Queen at Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh, the Pope spoke of "a Nazi tyranny that wished to eradicate God from society," according to a BBC report.

"Even in our own lifetimes, we can recall how Britain and her leaders stood against a Nazi tyranny that wished to eradicate God from society and denied our common humanity to many, especially the Jews, who were thought unfit to live," he said.

"As we reflect on the sobering lessons of atheist extremism of the 20th century, let us never forget how the exclusion of God, religion and virtue from public life leads ultimately to a truncated vision of man and of society and thus a reductive vision of a person and his destiny," the Pontiff added.

I think His Holiness is right on the mark with his assessment of atheism.

he's referring to the UK as being atheist?.....they have a government set up church in England....it's called the church of England.....are they loosing
allies in Rome?........It's their own fault for their poor leadership........their skirt is up and they haven't fixed their britches yet......

History teaches us that zealotry is just a dangerous as secularism.  It needs to coexist in society as a means of checks and balances.

SEPARATELY......but the head of each 'house' needs to know how to lead and hold their own.......

The Pope skipped right over Bosnia as an example of the dangers of zealotry that took place during the 1990's which resulted in genocide, and went right to Nazism as the example of secularism atrocities.

The Pope didn't say that the UK was atheist .. but was speaking about atheism in general.  I watched and
listened to his talks.
The Vatican has had great leadership -- John 23rd, Paul VI , John Paul I and John Paul II were great leaders and Benedict XVI is a great leader now.

Atheism is fed by the lack of leadership by Gods pupils who claim to know what God wants.......

It wasn't exactly optional, and children aren't entitled or expected to have moral courage in the face of a mass movement. That s why Muslim children are today recruited to be suicide bombers by their older Muslim brothers and sisters who should know better. However, the danger of such evil idealogies is that in the nations that foster them, that evil behavior becomes the norm. National Socialism was not a Christian movement, it was an occultist movement that used the pagan roots of the Germanic people from 2,000 years ago as its religious base.
