It appears if someone was handing out $5bills, there would be complaints that they aren't $10 bills, and that  they aren't being handed out fast enough!

Funny you use that analogy...Metroplex is handing out $10,000 bills - but only to the politically connected.

But hey, after years of nearly double digit County tax hikes, taxes are going down .3% this year.  HUGE SAVINGS!

The government is handing out $5 bills, and DVOR is weaseling his way into a patronage job looking to collect.

I am just looking to continue to serve the people of the Town of Rotterdam -- I have served as
a volunteer on boards and study groups ..  I give back to the community .. I don't have to
apologize for agreeing to accept the position when it was offered to me.

People in schenectady county aren't negative...really! They are just sick and tired of high taxes and fees that continue to rise under the leadership of Susan Savage! Schenectady county residents are sick and tired of their hard earned money going to support and seal deals for private transactions. Which has clearly NOT alleviated the high tax burden. If anything, they have only gone even higher!!!

Upstate has been depressed for decades and our government leaders, such as Susan Savage, continue to raise taxes with no relief in sight.

Biag...if you think for one minute that a few businesses in the jct will ease your taxes....you are just kidding yourself. Just look at how low the taxes are in the city!

Negative? Nah....it's called reality with these government officials!

SCHENECTADY COUNTY NEEDS A CHANGE IN LEADERSHIP FIRST!!!!

The County isn't even involved in the topic of this thread.   The only reason that the discussion
about the county got dragged in .. is because some twerp falsely accused me of offering
county $$$ to help this business come to Rotterdam.

Which is par for the course for the Perpetual Negativity Choir members who post in here ....
spew unfactual, viscious hate-filled comments first and then don't even bother to think ....

I haven't heard or seen any details of the town budget -- and what does that have to do with this thread?

What the hell is the point of this thread anyways?  A mystery business that you are claiming YOU persuaded to move to Rotterdam?

BTW, who's buying Dunzy's?

The point is that as residents we can help promote Rotterdam as a great place for businesses that we
like to come to and set up shop.

I would rather be a party of the solution by being positive and promoting Rotterdam -- rather than be like
many in here who I label the Perpetual Negativity Choir.

By continuing to support policies that have proven to fail, YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM.  Cheering on a track record of failed policy doesn't equal success.

The Perpetual Negative Choir sings the gospel hymns of truth about Rotterdam, Metroplex, and Schenectady County as a whole.

Since when did supporting local small businesses in their efforts to stay in business and grow become a
"failed policy".
If your "hymns of truth" entail NOT helping local small business - than you are the one cheering on failed
policies.

I agree with you....but 'looking pretty' is not going to solve the more serious problem of high taxes. Taxes as high as yours, and higher, are almost unattainable in upstate NY. There are very very few jobs that can support these high taxes. And these high taxes are getting you exactly 'what'? Sewers? Sufficient water supply? Supremely paved roads? A superior school system? NOPE! And if you want a sufficient water supply (water tower) you are going to have to pay even MORE!!! That is bizarre to say the least.

Don't look to this present government both at a local and state level to change anything intelligently....ever! Schenectady county needs fresh new blood. New blood that is not 'connected'! At a state level NYS needs someone like Paladino!!! If you go to these little town meetings, you will get nowhere....trust me!!!!

Do your own homework and find the most conservative candidates available and support the hell out of them!! Don't be hoodwinked with all of the same old BS they hand you with all the catch phrases. These faces may be new....but the ideas are the same!! IMHO

Schalmont and Mohonasen are very good school systems.

As for the water supply and sewer issues -- until someone hits the megamillions and donates it to the
town -- the only way to spend money on infrastructure like water towers and sewers is to raise the money
through a tax.

Bumble, I find it quite interesting that you brought up the fact of "supremely paved roads."  Do you realize what the county did in order to try to get a few extra votes?  Well, their highway department decided to pave roads ON ELECTION DAY.  Now, usually, I wouldn't find this as much of an issue, except for the timing of her releasing the amount of the "major savings" we're going to have.  The one problem?  Well, with paving this county road, for a period of time, they were actually blocking people from getting to their polling place!

The next day, they came through and paved the other side of the road.  While the citizens were not told there was going to be a time that you wouldn't be able to get in or out of your driveway, or even get onto my road, I must say that after talking to some of the people at REMS on Wednesday night, at least THEY were informed that the road would be blocked.  They had other plans, working out of the eastern station.  Good thing there was no major issue on our road that they were needed for.  Now, we just have to get the county to pay for the damage they did to the lawn of the school.
