Frankly, I respect her judgement (Ms. Savage) more than I respect your judgement on
fiscal and other matters.

...yeah, it must be her 20+ years of successful private sector business management, entrepreneurship, degree in economics, and background in finance and accounting that impresses you about her. ...Oh wait, that's me. She was the one with no private sector job, a lobbyist for downstate causes, and political roots with the downstate NYC democrap machine (Manfred Orehstein.) Sorry, I confused myself after you gave her such marks for judgment in fiscal matters!

Where do these alternate universes get created?

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

If it is true -- your experience that you cite here -- than I have to say .... judging by the shallow and not
well thought out arguments that you post here  than I have even LESS respect for your judgement than
I did earlier this day.    Apparently experience (in your case) is no substitue for common sense and great
ideas  (Ms. Savage).

Lowering of the tax levy doesn't mean diddly squat.  It's the tax bill that has the real impact on us.  We'll see.  Farce, trying to paint a rosy picture.  Just like last year's political ads, "lowering taxes" I think it was 2%.   The county tax BILL increased

Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

The fact is that County Taxes have been cut in 3 of the past 5 years.   The Perpetual Negativity Choir
says that they are for lower taxes  .. and yet is offended when the Democrats on the County Legislature
cut taxes for 3 out of 5 years.    Something is wrong with you folks.

Well said MC!!! Susan Savage is the most disingenuous, arrogant government official EVER!! Only in Schenectady county, where people are dumbed down, could someone like Susan Savage be suggested as 'intelligent'. She is completely and totally out of touch with her constituents. When you surround yourself with like minded, dumbed down people, it makes one appear somewhat adequate......something Susan Savage is NOT!!! It is just a fabricated political illusion!

People from outside the county find Susan Savage laughable! Susan Savage would NEVER survive anywhere except in pathetic schenectady county where taxes are the highest!!!!! Now that is quite an accomplishment!!!

Maybe when they get around to having tax cuts for 6 out of 10 years, we will finally actually see it in the amount that we have to pay, although I have to admit that someone on the REMS side did have a good argument for high local taxes tonight... that you can use it as a write-off on your state and federal taxes.  I don't know, does that keep me in the PNC or am I kicked out?  Or am I the director of the PNC?

Schenectady has high taxes .. YES  .. but that is because of how many years of GOP control of the County?
The Democrats have had less than a decade to undo the mess created by DECADES of GOP control.

If the Dems can't get the taxes under control in 10 years they'll never be able to lower them. I see you've adopted the same talking points that your friends in Washington are trying to sell. Always blame someone else when you fail miserably, right out of the Cloward and Piven hand book

The facts are the facts .. and I would argue that the Democratic led County Legislature HAS gotten taxes
under control .. and is working POSITIVELY to improve the county  .. much work is left to be done .. but
under the leadership of Ms. Savage and her colleagues  a good start has been made.

You are dead on!!!

The dems keep blaming the past administration. They seem to forget that they ARE the past administration! The dems have had a decade and have been nothing more than a tax and spend machine!!!

Schenectady county is the brunt of the jokes in NYS!!!

Your comments are baseless .. since the Democrats have lowered taxes in 3 of the past 5 years  ... you just
can't swallow your pride and admit that Democrats CAN and HAVE lowered taxes.

Ron, I think part of the issue is that right in the middle of these 3 out of 5 years was a little issue you might have heard of, call the re-evaluation.  This pumped up the values of everybody's homes in Rotterdam to a place where, since the crash after, the houses couldn't be sold for what they're evaluated at.  Maybe one of those 3 years that you're saying there was a reduction in taxes just wasn't realized in the town, since everybody's bills went up quite excessively considering the new "values" of their homes.

the tax rate did go down .. and some houses pay higher now -- because for years their houses were under
valued on the tax rolls
the house that I live in -- had not been revalued in almost 50 years -- our taxes went up .. but not as
much as we thought  and .. given that we had been paying taxes for years on a unrealistically low valuation
.. we didn't mind paying a bit more now -- it is called paying our fair share

Well, if you think for all those years that you weren't paying enough taxes, you could always send an additional check to the town clerk (whoever that is this week) and let them know that you don't want to pay less than your fair share.  That would help to lower the taxes of all the others throughout town.  I think I was paying my fair share, now I'm paying taxes on more than my house is worth.  I decided how much my house is worth... on the day that I signed the agreement to buy my house.
