State grant boosts city health center By Paul Nelson Staff Writer Published: 12:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 8, 2010
SCHENECTADY --For a health clinic that has fallen on hard times, the $75,000 in state grant money it received from a politician will go a long way in helping them keep their doors open.
"It's another example of the commitment from the community and a huge boost for this year's budget," said Bill Spolyar, executive director of the Schenectady Free Health Center a recent announcement of the funding.
He said the $75,000 grant from Sen. Hugh Farley, R-Niskayuna, brings to $140,000 the funds the clinic has raised so far since the fiscal year began July 1 and will help buy medication for the patients.
Roughly 75 percent of the Franklin Street center's $500,000 operating budget goes toward patient medication, Spolyar said, noting they raised $559,000 in 2009. To make ends meet, they also charge a $5 fee for prescriptions...............>>>>...................>>>>.....................http://www.timesunion.com/local/article/State-grant-boosts-city-health-center-648423.php

The "conservative" Hugh Farley handing out tax money like candy. Between that and mailers to tell you about all the government programs that they're waiting to spend your money on, it's actually a true toss-up of who is the actual conservative between Farley and Savage. I'd still say that Farley as a SMALL advantage...maybe. |

It's cheaper to keep the Schenectady Free Clinic open rather than use Ellis Hospital. At greater taxpayer expense. SS Savage is already trying to hijack the CONS party. She can't even site her new County Home she is pushing down the sheeples throats. She is no Conservative and must be kept from the State Senate where she would vote with ultra liberal NYC Senators. |

Susan Savage better get on the stick if she thinks she has a chance in hell winning this race. Although she must already know that since she has not relinquished her County Leg position as of yet.
I heard through the grapevine that Farley is WAY ahead of her in the polls!! HURRAY!! |

You know, it's only a matter of which one is not more conservative, but which is less liberal. At this point, I put Farley in the less liberal position, but wouldn't it be nice to remove a far leftist from the county legislature? She couldn't be replaced by someone MORE liberal...unless Nancy Pelosi is moving into Niskayuna...and that's a coin toss. |

Angelo Santabarbara has sent out mailers to the same Conservatives who supported him asking them to vote for Savage. Talk about adding insult to injury... |

Local health clinic gets big boost
Published: 2:50 pm Share Updated: 4:23 pm The Schenectady Free Health Clinic is getting a big boost thanks to General Electric and the Little Foundation.
GE Global Research Vice President Mark Little donated his $25,000 chairman award and then matched it with a $25,000 donation from his family foundation.
The $50,000 total will help pay for at least three months of medication for the clinic. Mark Little says the choice to donate to the clinic was an easy one. "I have been enormously impressed by the great work that goes on here at the Schenectady Free health Clinic you see people here who comes with professional skills and great hearts do a wonderful service for our community," he said.
The free clinic has been treating patients without health insurance since 2003.
