Family Fun Day brings counselors and kids together on final day of summer programming
The bouncy-bounce was boppin’, the grill was heating up, the music was movin’ and dirt was rustled during a game of kickball, bringing a happy end to the Town of Rotterdam’s summer program for kids.
Family Fun Day, on Friday, Aug. 13, celebrated the end of the town’s six weeks of summer activities. The event brought together children and counselors from all three programs.
The PREP program for ages 3-5 was at the Senior Citizen Center on Hamburg Street. The RAP program for ages 6-8 took place at the Pinewood Elementary School. Children 9-12 attended the Summer Camp at Mohonasen Draper Middle School. Only Rotterdam residents were allowed to attend.
This year, more than 2,500 local youths attended the three separate sessions from June 21 to Aug. 21. Children 3-8 could attend for free, and children 9- to 12-years old could purchase the full six-week package for $300. There were 38 staff members employed for the season.
Organizers said children often return to the summer camp because they enjoyed their previous experience. This year, the program attracted 50 more children than the previous year...................>>>>.....................>>>>.................http://www.spotlightnews.com/news/view_news.php?news_id=1282327781
