So if I buy a piece of land that I find out later is a sacred American Indian burial ground, and I am planning to build a museum honoring American Pioneers and the Louis and Clark expedition, and the Native American Tribe for which this land is considered sacred makes a plea to me NOT to build it because of the sacred meaning of that land. I should thumb my nose at them and not understand why this would be insensitive, and say screw you American Indian I can legally build here, you are a bigot for even asking me to not build here.
So if the Indian burial ground IS going to be under your church, then we might make an exception...
But in this case, to get to the Indian Burial Ground, you'd have to pass a bunch of street vendors selling magazines & Pretzels, A strip club, A OTB parlor, A Dunkin Donuts... etc etc etc... and you are blocks away from these businesses further from the Burial Ground.... are you saying that an OTB Parlor SHOULD be allowed, but a Mosque Should NOT???
If this Mosque were two blocks further, you'd still hear the same weeping and sobbing from the Right. Move it 6 blocks away... nothing changes. Move it to Tennessee, and you get the same argument.

Saudi Arabia is the country with all the gold as they could buy the USA with all their oil money. I just pray that a radical faction doesn't form in the Mosque after it's built and unleash another catrastrophy on NYC.

If I had to look over the top of several buildings... OTB, Porn Shop, Strip Club, Pizza joint... I would feel no responsibility to keep my church further than those businesses from the burial ground.

Authorities arrest three suspects in connection to an alleged terror plot. Agents in Denver arrested Najibullah Zazi, a 24-year old airport shuttle driver, who authorities say appears to be the ringleader of the alleged plot. Also charged with lying to the FBI was Zazi's father, Mohammed Zazi.
In New York, the FBI arrested the leader of a Queens mosque, Ahmad Afzali, who authorities allege had been a New York police department informant but "went bad" and tipped off Zazi, his father and others to the investigation.
Afzali's alleged double cross compromised the case and led the FBI to move in on the suspects much earlier than they had wanted and led to extreme tensions between the Denver office of the FBI and the NYPD. One law enforcement official said the NYPD had been specifically asked not to reveal the investigation to its informants, but went ahead anyway.

Dont be so tunnel vision......it's a 'class' all politicians take....make a common enemy and ride that wave for awhile.....I am not discrediting the families or extreme versions of ANY religion....but I refuse to allow leaders to 'make me mad'.......one thing I have learned from religion----keep your mind your own.......own it and defend it's ground,use it as it is meant to be used, we are at the top of the food chain for a reason, no matter how barbaric everyone thinks that is, use it......
