Paesan's Pizza is the latest fast food restaurant to set up shop in Schenectady. Actually, the pizzeria will be in a Guilderland Avenue building that is located in both the city of Schenectady and Rotterdam. The front is in Rotterdam, but a rear portion is in Schenectady.

The building was constructed to house an Eckerd Pharmacy. Eckerd folded leaving the place a vacant eyesore for years.

A Paesan's Pizza logo has already been installed. Workers have been in the place for weeks making the major conversion from pharmacy to pizzeria. The opening date is unknown.

This is an expansion for Paesan's, a chain with four shops in Albany County and one in East Greenbush.

According to the Rotterdam building inspector, the renovations are to convert the building to house three businesses. There are reports a laundromat will occupy one of the other storefronts.

Sounds good  Another small business coming to Rotterdam.  And how much tax money was thrown at them to come to town?  NONE!  And where was Susan Savage and the District 4 Representatives when this announcement was being made?  Well, they didn't have anything to say about it, so they weren't there.  Finally, one piece of the blight in Rotterdam will be taken care of.  Now, we just have to drive down the road to take care of some more (the corner store that's been fenced off next to the fire-ravaged properties of 4 Corners Pizzaria and First Class Products).

Sounds like there's been as much renovation at this location as there has been at Capital Plaza, which had a whole bunch of tax money thrown at it.  This is a business I would be more than happy to visit.  Good luck to the owners of Paesan's.  Haven't tried your pizza before, but I'll make it a point to stop by.

The owners at 4corners pizza must have been having a tarot card reading under candle light to find out about this competitor and then left it 'running'.......
