All they really tried to do is soften the landing, instead of letting it bottom out hard. The problem with that is it lengthening the suffering (killing us with small cuts) and delaying any hope of a recovery, and all the while accumulating all this extra debt. I thought the Mensa member would be smart enough to end a war where half the population is against us, the Afghan gov't is too busy being corrupt to be effective, and our supposed ally Pakistan is taking our money with one hand, and protecting the Taliban with the other.
