Why is Sch’dy paving perfectly fine streets?

If we do not learn from the past, we are doomed to repeat it. It seems the city of Schenectady has not learned from its mistakes of 1930-1940.
Last week, nighttime road construction finished on lower State Street. Why were they were repaving an area of street that was in pristine condition? Although the pointless construction probably cost a fortune, I contented myself by acknowledging that it was a small section of road and only a bit of an inconvenience.
Then they started paving the entirety of State Street, from McClellan [Street] to Nott Terrace. This is absolutely insane. The road was in fi ne condition.
This wasteful spending is reminiscent of the Tennessee Valley Authority digging ditches and then fi lling them in. The money for these projects had to come from somewhere, whether loans our children will be paying for or grants from the government that rob businesses and individuals of their hard-earned money.
You cannot spend your way out of a depression; that policy only delays the inevitable crash. The last decade saw the boom of economic expansion, and we do not want to see that the next decade will be the bust.

Surprised they printed this. And you wonder why Stratton and his rubber stamps have a record $13 million deficit? In the highest taxed City in the region.

Try repaving Broadway, Nott St or one of the many side streets that are crumbling. The City needs an independent audit to get to the bottom of the fiscal mismanagement.

I like the right lanes in both directions on Erie Blvd with the manhole covers that are a little too high it's like driving down a RR track.

They finally painted lines and installed a new traffic light with an arrow at the intersection where St. Paul's church in Schenectady. Good job.

Now all they have to do is paint lines on Erie blvd. But hell, at least they have pretty flowers hanging off the light posts!!! Does anyone in the city have at least a half a brain????
