$50 for a buffet???  That's a bit steep in these economic times, aint it?

It's a fundraiser. It's a donation to a candidate if you choose to support them. I don't think it's steep at all. Especially if you are not only supporting a candidate, but are getting great canali food!! YUM! IMO

I think the days of $50 and $99 fundraisers are things of the past.  People just can't afford it!  I'd rather see George put some of his own money into his campaign, than take $50 from me.  Also, check out this link:

George's committee still owes well over $70K to the Republican Assembly Campaign Committee!!!!!! Wowzers...I guess a donation to George is welfare for his debts...

You're kidding right? It appears that GA is putting on a full Italian buffet for $50 bucks! Big deal.

If I remember correctly GP had a 'get together' at a bar on guilderland ave with donations of $20, $99 and $250!!!!

This  is nothing new. Politicians running for office have fundraisers to raise money for their campaigns. And people will pay if they support them. I will donate to a candidate I support but not the party.

I hear you...I'm just saying that the high $ fundraisers are not something appealing to a lot of the people I talk to.

Aside from that, as I previously posted, George's debts (being that they are SO old) are a little bit alarming to me...no wonder we don't have a state budget!

You really need to get out more. $50 for a full buffet at Canali's is cheap. Will any of ANG's cheese be on the buffet?-lol-

Exactly!!! If ya support the candidate......you will attend and pay.....simple as that! This is really nothing new in the realm of political campaigning! Like I said....GP's was at a local watering hole and was requesting upwards of $250 bucks. I'm sure people that supported him would pay.

No one is twisting anyone's arm to go to these things. It's all 'volunteer'!

Fifty dollars is a lot of money for many people.  However, there are many fundraisers, political and those to support
charities, for which the charge is much higher.

I agree that it is about supporting those who you support and want to represent you in government.  It costs a great deal of money to campaign for office.  Those who do not have and spend the funds are generally unsuccessful in their bids to be elected.
