Raymond Hosier clinged to his rosary beads and he doesn't plan on taking them off.

"They're in honor of my brother and uncle and that's how it's gonna stay," he said.

Raymond said on Monday that the principal at Oneida Middle School told him to take off or hide his rosary per school policy. But he didn't and went back to school on Tuesday. When Raymond went in on Wednesday he was suspended.

District leaders tell FOX23 News and the school's policy states that students may not wear beads out of concern they may be gang related.

"I was just mad they were suspending me for rosary beads and I told them I wasn't in a gang. They just resemble my brother and uncle," said Hosier.

Fox News Albany is reporting that a Schenectady Middle School student at Oneida has been suspended for wearing a rosary to school!

This was allegedly against SCSD policy because a rosary might to be considered "gang related". Although the student is not in a gang and was wearing a rosary in memory of his brother and uncle he was still suspended from the school. Apparently this school administration cannot stop stepping in it.

He was sent home and suspended for wearing rosary beads? He refused to remove them-GOOD! Everyone should be outraged over this. Of course the Gazetto refuses to report it. It's not something that's awry-everything is awry over there. Fire all Schenectady administrators.

This is burning up the net and going nationwide. Ya think they have bigger issues-like passing a balanced budget?

Yes, ban Catholics, and Protestants but if you are democrap, get on your knees to suck the mullahs until they explode. You can always tell a democrap by the holes they have in the backs of their heads when they pass by a mosque ( or bakhouse.)

Democraps to Muzzies:

"OK Mousadd, please carry your prayer rug. Fatyama, keep the burkha on, don't take it off. Yasseem, we have an ACLU lawyer ready to sue the taxpayers on your behalf, Just make sure you send the money to Al-Quada so they can kill our troops! Mohammed, if you feel harrassed, we can help you stage a violent riot, we have plenty of interns from the young democrap club to assist!"

Democraps to Catholics:

"GET THAT ROSARY OFF OR FACE TORTURE, BANKRUPTCY AND IMPRISONMENT, NOT TO MENTION DISGRACE AND HARASSMENT FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Traitors should ultimately be hung. I am waiting for the time to be ripe.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

SCHENECTADY
Student suspended for not hiding beads

BY KATHLEEN MOORE Gazette Reporter

Fear over gang symbols led the school district to suspend a middle school student who wore rosary beads to school this week.
But the Oneida Middle School student was only suspended after he refused to hide the beads inside his shirt, school offi cials said.
“Then it becomes a different issue, of insubordination,” district spokeswoman Karen Corona said.
She said the district’s code of conduct specifically limits beads. “They can wear, they just can’t display beads,” she said.
The problem is that gang members might use beads to identify each other.
“We deal with a number of gangs,” Corona said. “Beads are identifiers for gangs. We want to keep identifiers out of school and keep the schools safe.”
Judy Atchinson, who runs an after-school program that many young gang members attend, said gang members often try to proclaim their religiousness by wearing obvious religious necklaces.
“They say they’re saying they believe in God,” she said. “Rosaries are a fashion statement.”
The district banned bead necklaces during the 2004-05 school year after receiving information that a small group of students were using beads to identify their gang. ..............>>>>..................>>>>................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r01203&AppName=1

Mr Bonnet your political diarrhea is misplaced.  The rosary is not an article of clothing. So something is wrong here. In the old days, any child wearing a rosary as a necklace would have been cuffed on the side of the head by the nearest nun-

According to my sources, this student is going to NYC to appear on Fox News Hannity Show tonight. This is the last thing they need over there. They have enough problems that must be dealt with.

They are finally talking about budgeting, layoffs, administrative cuts and now the hot national media spotlight is coming to town. Does anyone have enough sense to nip this in the bud?

I have to agree, that years ago, wearing rosary beads was a sin!! But today I have seen seniors wearing them and even once I saw a college student wearing one.

However, these kids today have 'rights'. Freedom of expression if you will! Aren't female muslims allowed to wear their head gear for their religion? And aren't there areas in some colleges designated as a prayer room for muslims and their religion?  And weren't there gyms that closed for a few  hours so muslim women could use the facility because of what their muslim religion dictates?

It is freedom of expression and freedom of religion FOR ALL! Right?

Wearing a rosary by a student hardly constitutes Congress "establishing" a religion.

Is congress constituting a religion by allowing muslim girls to wear their head gear!!! Or Jews wearing a skull cap, Yarmulke, Kippah?

The student was told to tuck in the beads or take them off because gangs are using beads as a way to show their colors. And seeing that beads aren't a normally worn religious item I don't think its too much to ask for. I'm not sure what the Muslim equiv. is to the rosary beads (ie. a religious item not normally worn) but if gangs started using that then I would say clamp down on that too.
