AMEDORE VOTES AGAINST LATEST BUDGET EXTENDERShare
Today at 8:16pm
Statement from Assemblyman George Amedore (R,C-Rotterdam)

History continues to repeat itself in Albany, as the Majority leaders and the governor have forced through yet another budget extender rather than constructing a concrete spending plan. This week’s extender not only deepens the pain and frustration felt by taxpayers across the state, but it pushes organizations like the Montgomery County Office for the Aging (MCOFA) ever closer toward shutting its doors. These budget extenders are an irresponsible way to maintain a functioning state and they negatively impact the lives of millions of New Yorkers. Legislative leaders need to stop dragging their heels, step up, and make the tough decisions. They still have not learned that years of overspending have compounded this crisis; their only solution is to raise taxes, and that is unacceptable. With the budget more than 80 days past due, I will not vote for an extender bill that excludes vital programs and services like the MCOFA, and fails to meet the needs of New York’s citizens.

He did not propose legislation to expand government or raise taxes.  Didn't propose a new taxing district to fund a mismanaged non profit in a County where it's residents are already the 9th highest taxed in the COUNTRY, he didn't create a political slush fund called Metroplex.

So far there is a lot he didn't do that beats the heck out of what his fellow Republicans DID DO.  How much did GP fleece the taxpayers for?

Parisi didn't do any of those things either. I was unaware that we now hold attorneys responsible for the act/decisions of theirclients.  I guess Deangulus is responsible for Steven Raucci's  acts now....

Great George didn't propose to expand taxes...did he proposeanything toREDUCE THEM!?

Parisi was the Republican Party Chair running Rotterdam campaign.  There were signs posted around Rotterdam reading "Save the REMS" as well as the fact that Republicans under Parisi leadership proposed a taxing district for the REMS.  Are you saying that GP knew nothing of the Save the REMS/taxing district part of the Republican platform?   Was he too busy? Incompetent? Or just lazy?  Or...Is he going to lie in an attempt to distance himself from these FACTS.

I'm not saying he didn't know about it. I'm saying he wasn't the 1 running the town. Are you advocating that the town should be run by a party chair and not the elected officials?

So GA doesnt want to save the REMS then I guess.  That is good to know.  Wouldnt have anything to do with any underhanded promises from other interested parties would it?  Give Bill Sherman a call if your interested....

Are you saying that GP want to save the mismanaged REMS on the backs of the Rotterdam taxpayer?  That's good to know.  The multi-billion dollar Federal bailout of mismanaged banks and auto makers was extremely popular with the people, I'm glad to hear GP is continuing that winning philosophy on the local level.

The next campaign slogan for GP.

"Save the REMS - Too big to fail"

No, I'm saying the party chair that managed the party message during the campaign (with multiple interviews), I have a tough time believing he was opposed to the creation of the taxing district.  You can use the "he was not an elected official" all you want, but I aint buying it.

It's sort of like Karl Rove taking a position of opposition to the invasion of Iraq, then laying the blame on Bush.  Not only is it not believable, it's also a bit cowardly.

Why have a Rotterdam Republican Party Chair then, if Buchanan the County Party Chair is going to run the campaign?  It's a bit of a redundancy wouldn't you say?    So let me get this straight...Buchanan was responsible for the management of the Rotterdam Republican campaign during the last election, and Parisi as town chair had nothing to do with it.  And now, the Rotterdam Republican Committee was somehow able to not to endorse Amedore, and Buchanan at the County level does endorse Amedore.  So when does Buchanan control things?  Just during elections mailing campaign mailers, but not when deciding to endorse a candidate?

Maybe that's why the Republicans are f'd up.  They allow the county chair to run a campaign for a town race, when they the town has a party chair.  If that's true of course.
