Gadfly, how or why would the state reps give two craps about what happens in Rotterdam?

If he was considered the spoiler, did the town GOP chairman lodge a complaint with someone?  Even if a chairman lodges a complaint, it's a LOCAL issue, not a state GOP issue.  I'm not convinced that state leaders would give a town chairman (I assume GP) any say in who they fire.

Here's why it totally doesn't make sense, GP is running a primary against a state GOP elected official, so it seems to me that any state leader would hand him a big F-YOU and allow Mertz to cause as much trouble as he wants.  Matter of fact, I'd tell Mertz he HAD to run a primary against GP supporter FS or I would fire him!

Reality is that he probably got burned out and doesn't really care anymore.  That's the impression he gave me anyways.

It is my understanding that appeals were made about Mertz...but not to Republican State leaders...and they were ignored. I don't
know whether State Chairmen involve local leaders in patronage jobs...I only know that Parisi had nothing to do with the
termination of Mertz' colleague. Mertz will likely claim burnout...he doesn't care anymore...things like that...anything but the truth. I
suspect that to even talk about it will also jeopardize his job, so the reality of the situation will likely be written off as specualtion.
After all, who would admit to imposing such restrictions as a condition of employment? Even if Mertz himself confirmed this officially,
his bosses would deny it and fire him.

To be continued.......(Zorro) who might be Mertz but is def. not Bumble.  And if Mertz was Bumble then he would not be posting according to KR's intel but Zorro ran into him and he said he was "retired" yet he still posts on the board but is not sposed to but if the state finds out he is in big trouble but if they don't find out then he can still agitate and KR doesn't want people to realize she has a half dozen monikers on here and I am really Eunice in waiting..

No really.....I will take the honor of being mertzie!!!!

As far as the FS vs WC issue..........time will tell. Just pay attention folks!

Hey.....where and who does FS work for anyway? I mean, most people never really even heard of him until this January at town board meetings. He says he's an attorney....but for or with who? And some attorneys specialize in one aspect of the law. Just wondering if FS does the same? Or does he just 'free lance'?

Frank is young, ambitious and full of energy. So what if you haven't seen him for years at the town hall! He just finished college not so long ago!! He has experience in the NYS Assembly and he has been involved in many campiagns. The guy is NEW and untarnished....something we NEED in Rotterdam..."fresh"

Personally, I am going to vote for Wayne Calder because of his experience and he will bring a voice of reason to the town board.

Having said that, I think Frank Salamone is an intelligent, personable young man.  It is just too bad that he has allowed himself to be badly used by others in the Grand Old Party.

Frank -- if you ever choose to leave the "dark side" .. we will show you how a real party grooms and supports its rising young stars.

voiceofreason, are we to assume that you are in favor and wouldn't object to a one party rule? And are we to assume that the liberal socialists will take 'anyone' in, even if their ideology were polar opposites? Are we to assume that the liberal socialists will welcome anyone that is running for office for political and personal gain (ego) only? Ya know....like AS?

It doesn't say much for the local libs.

I am an NNTP supporter and plan to support Frank.  Based on the current complexion and competency of the existing Town Board, it is imperative that the Reps. win this seat in the abscence of any other choices.  Next year there are two seats coming up for election, ND and FDG.  Should Frank win and the Reps. steal a seat Nov. 2011, they can bust the super majority which is critical.  Historically, it is moot which party has control (both have been bad).  Should Calder win, the Dems/Cons can afford to give up one of the two Nov. 2011 seats and still retain the super majority.  From the special interst zones, it is in the electorates best interest to bust the super majority regardless of which party holds the simple majority.  It's simple math folks!

Actually, I am far from being a liberal socialist.

Second, I am fond of the two-party system and have no problem with their being many "third parties" as well.

As for Mr. Salamone, I stand by my original comments .. he is an intelligent and personable young man.  I believe he has a future in town politics.

I have greatly enjoyed the few conversations that we have had on various issues.  I think that he as been used -- to his detriment -- by his GOP friends.  I stand by my offer to welcome him should he ever decide to come over to the Democratic Party.   And if he doesn't, I welcome the opportunity to continue to discuss our views (sometimes differing .. sometimes similar) on the future of the town which we both love and call home.

So, it looks like the NNTP is finished.  Mertz is reportedly "burned out".  O'Conner has gone black.  Mc Garry is now a Republican.  And, I was run out of Schenectady County.  Republicans and Democrats can rest easy knowing that there will not be any future interference in two party (well, really one party) rule that has served Rotterdam and Schenectady County so well over the past decade.

The names may change, but the mission lives on ...

I come from a family with roots in both the Democratic and Republican parties.  My uncle, a Republican, was County Surrogate Judge for many years.   I knew many of the old time Republicans from that era ... The GOP of that era was a more "kinder and gentler" party.
They would never have used a young man like Frank to do their dirty work as the "attack dog" and then when he ran for office .. left him beating the pavement all by himself.
As you all know,  I support Wayne Calder and will work my butt off to get him elected this November.   That being said .. I think Frank Salamone deserves better from his GOP colleagues.   ...  ok .. enough of my free advice to the other/"dark" side.
