You're leaving Walmart. As you start to put your purchases in your trunk, A policeman asks you for proof of citizenship. What papers do you have with you to prove you're a citizen? No, a driver's licence is not enough. Do you carry your Social Security card with you? Your birth certificate? No? well, it's off to Arapio's tents until your wife can find them

Sure, legal immigrants are, by law, supposed to carry their identification showing they are in the country legally. The problem is that U.S. citizens are not required to carry any identification, let alone identification that proves their citizenship. See the problem?

You are really demented. The cops TIP TOE around Hispanics and other minorities for fear of being thrown into jail themselves for racial discrimination.

Everything created by man is clearly NOT perfect. Including the laws we create. But I don't think there is anyone out there that doesn't think that the handling of this issue is L-O-N-G overdue!

I give this gov. credit for at least attempting to deal with this mess that is impacting her state.

Tell me again - what taxes do illegal immigrants pay? What health insurance premiums do they pay -vs- use of ER's everytime they get a tummy ache? How much are they contributing to social security? What % of illegals are registered with Selective Service or serve their country in the military? What % of them receive govt assistance via medicaid, food stamps, etc? What are they paying in income tax?

I can't seem to find those numbers - so, since you're so good at research, perhaps you can help?

Illegal Immigrants who work in the USA use bogus Social Security numbers and pay social security taxes.
* "The Social Security Administration in 2005, said that about $9 billion in taxes was paid from people who filed W2 forms with incorrect or mismatched data, which would include illegal immigrants who drew paychecks under fake names and Social Security numbers."
Since the illegals are ineligible and can never collect Social Security... the billions that they pay helps subsidize US workers who do collect Social Security.
USA Today:
http://www.usatoday.com/money/perfi/taxes/2008-04-10-immigrantstaxes_N.htm

Many Illegals own homes, pay health care premiums and pay many taxes, just like most of us.

Illegals are ineligible for welfare.

US hospitals are required to treat "life threatening conditions" so an Illegal or any one else with out health insurance will not be turned away at a hospital ER.
BUT
Anything other than "life threatening conditions" they will be turned away and not treated.  Your "tummy ache" would not qualify... neither would cancer, high blood pressure, diabetes, arthritis, etc.
Life threatening conditions, once stabilized, are then discharged with no further treatment.

FAIR estimates "there are currently between 287,000 and 363,000 children born to illegal aliens each year. In 1994, California paid for 74,987 deliveries to illegal alien mothers, at a total cost of $215.2 million (an average of $2,842 per delivery). Illegal alien mothers accounted for 36 percent of all Medi-Cal funded births in California that year."

In a recent year in Colorado, the state's emergency Medicaid program paid an estimated $30 million in hospital and physician delivery costs for about 6,000 illegal immigrant mothers - average of $5,000 per baby. Those 6,000 births to illegal aliens represent 40% of the births paid for by Medicaid in Colorado. Those 6,000 babies immediately became U.S. citizens and qualified for full Medicaid services, with a cost yet to be tabulated.

Forced to slash their budgets, some California counties are eliminating nonemergency health services for illegal immigrants -- a move that officials acknowledge could backfire by shifting the financial burden to emergency rooms.

Sacramento County voted in February to bar illegal immigrants from county clinics at an estimated savings of $2.4 million. Contra Costa County followed last month by cutting off undocumented adults, to save approximately $6 million. And Yolo County is voting on a similar change next month, which would reduce costs by $1.2 million.

Sixty percent of the county's uninsured patients are not U.S. citizens. More than half are here illegally. About 2 million undocumented aliens in Los Angeles County alone are crowding emergency rooms because they can't afford to see a doctor.

Among the key finding of the report are that the state's already struggling K-12 education system spends approximately $7.7 billion a year to school the children of illegal aliens who now constitute 15 percent of the student body. Another $1.4 billion of the taxpayers' money goes toward providing health care to illegal aliens and their families, the same amount that is spent incarcerating illegal aliens criminals.

H.R. 3962 would deliberately permit illegal aliens to participate in the government health insurance exchange and in the public option insurance program.

From the L.A. Times and Rice University’s Professor Donald Huddle: “Less than 2% of illegal aliens are picking our crops but 29% are on welfare.” And as far back as 1997, according to Huddle, the cost of illegal immigration to the American taxpayer was a net (after subtracting taxes immigrants pay)  $69 Billion.

~* I'd go on, but I've got better things to do than argue with a wannabe conservative *~

A wannabe Conservative??? are you serious???  What thinking person with over an IQ of 3 would knowingly be a Conservative?
There isn't much that would insult me on this board, but accusing me of the sin of being a Conservative is an slanderous insult!

YOU ASKED:
"How much are they contributing to social security?"
"use of ER's everytime they get a tummy ache?"
"What health insurance premiums do they pay"

If you don't want the truth of the answers... don't ask the questions!

Oh and to YOUR QUESTION:
"What % of illegals are registered with Selective Service or serve their country in the military?"
The answer is that Illegal Immigrants are not allowed to serve in our armed forces... however there are legal and temporary immigrants serving in our military.

Doesn't ANYBODY here have an issue with the word ILLEGAL???? I'm stunned! Have we, as a nation, become so shallow that we will allow illegal behavior AS LONG AS they are contributing money into the system?

It doesn't matter what statistics are found, there will always be one to negate the other. The issue here is ILLEGAL! ILLEGAL entry into this country is a crime. Perhaps not a major crime, but a crime just the same.

And we don't live in AZ. But I have a friend who does and he and his wife said illegal immigration and crime is a major concern for everyone. Now I know that is not like a major statistic or a poll, but non the less, we don't live there, so who are we to say?

There is a reason that Illegals were tolerated in border states for as long as I can remember... They are a necessary commodity.

They pick out produce at below minimum wage, keeping prices artificially low.

They are the nannys, the gardeners, the pool cleaners, the maids, the carwash crew, the labor force for jobs no one else will do, they are a huge part of the economy.

To end almost all illegals in border states, eliminate the jobs they work in and illegals will disappear all by themselves.  They come here for the money... not the scenery.

Prosecute ALL employers that hire illegals... A year in jail with no plea bargain, and the illegal problem will be over in 6 months.

3% of Illegal Aliens Do Low-Paid Stoop Agricultural Labor;
the Remaining 97% Take Jobs That Americans Want and Need

The most recent Pew Hispanic Center?s study indicates that 97% of 12 to 20 million illegal aliens are working in construction, hospitality, manufacturing, restaurant, administrative and service jobs. Are these jobs that Americans will not do?

The Republic is a leftist rag. More bullshit.

I happen to have spent three weeks there BEFORE the law was passed (actually it was passed while I was there.) I have had a foot in that state since the 1980's. My brother has lives there since 1977. Let me tell you about Arizona since you obviously know absolutely nothing about it. The realty mkt has been driven to ridiculous heights over the past decade due to a massive influx of Californians who sold their 1500 sq foot bungalows for $700,000 and bought 4 or 5 newer, nicer houses and condos (land, what have you) for that price on speculation. Some of them used leverage and bought 10 houses. (Of course after voting in democraps for 20 years in Ca, they couldn't afford the taxes and cost of living there anymore and found a cheap, economically growing paradise in the valley, and in Tucson.)

Now the bubble of real estate has burst and they are finding that life, while not always being "fair" as liberals would like it to be, finds its level just like water. So they are up the sh*t creek and as a consequence the middle class and lower class who had t pay bou coup (that means big) money for a townhouse or middle class abode during the boom is now taking it in the can, along with the Cali asses who bid everything up to high heaven to begin with. A giant sh*t sandwich and Arizonans (even part time ones like me) have to take a bite on our property values. However for us, the value of our property went down but was paid for long, long ago. It was not a get-rich scheme like it was for Califoolians, it was a lifestyle choice. Let me illustrate with an actual property: Purchased in 1988 for 40K. Three years ago was worth $150K. Today it is worth $50K. If you bought it from the owner three years ago, you would be upside down, and it wouldn't matter what color you were, or what your so-called immigration status was or is.

So stop with the bullshit and lies and liberal spin put out by the socialist media. You got caught by someone who actually knows the situation first hand. Again. You want to talk Arizona, all the internet reports in the world ain't gonna' save your dumb, public sector, unmotivated to work, motivated to politic' a**.

Oh, and as an aside. Property taxes on a typical 3 bdrm ranch home worth 100K or so these days would go about $900.00 to $1,000.00. That includes school. Take a peek at your latest tax bill and see how that compares to our wet, rainy, cold, snowy, cloudy state and its property.

Let me add, as to income tax:

If you are making a whopping $11,000 per year in NY state, you will pay a higher tax rate than the maximum bracket rate in Arizona, which kicks in at $150,000 and is 4.6%.

We are very progressive here, indeed.

...thank you, democraps, for stealing food off the tables of middle class working families.
