Politics as usual in Rotterdam. Remember the illegal burning that took place in Masullo Estates that the town couldn't do anything about, nothing changes only the names of the guilty. |

let me guess..... FDG strolls around his multiple acres of land out in the country on his atv and thinks this is the same as what is going on at the westside track? I am sure his kids and their friends probably even use the property to ride. FDG - you ran for public office to help its residents, this is an easy one - enforce town codes and if they are too broad have them altered to fit the situation - you do it with zoning? FDG - just gave every resident the right to ride an atv around their property with no regard for their nieghbors quality of life this administration has been a failure from day one................... |

I would like for FDG to show everyone exactly where the other racetracks are located in rotterdam. Ones the size and magnitude of Westside's. And I thought there were codes against this.......no?
As I have said before, the residents should Article 78 the Town for failing to uphold the Code. Let a judge look at the facts and make the determination. At least there will be closure regarding what needs to be done statutorily to eliminate this problem. I hear Article 78s against Rotterdam are in vogue, with three going, what's one more? |

I loved it at the meeting last night when Mr. DelGallo stated that he had a racetrack in his back yard. Better than that, as far as showing you where else there are the same types of race tracks, Mr. DelGallo states that "three quarters of the homes would be in violation." |

Put brakes on motorcycle madness in Rotterdam
Authorities have had more than their share of legal issues with Rotterdam businessman Marc Della Villa over the years — mostly to do with illegal dumping. The latest one is environmental, too, but has to do with motorized bike races that neighbors say have been taking place on his property regularly for months, making a racket for as much as eight hours a day on weekends. Unfortunately, town offi cials have been reluctant to enforce a decadesold law regulating racetracks, so Della Villa’s neighbors haven’t had much peace. The town’s law seems pretty clear: It classifies a racetrack as any area where motorized vehicles are used in contests of demonstrations of skill for the entertainment of the public or gratification of the contestants. According to residents of the otherwisequiet neighborhood, motorcycles and all-terrain vehicles — sometimes up to a dozen at a time — have been buzzing around the property on a regular basis, with the goings-on attracting spectators as well as participants. For months, residents have complained at Town Board meeting, submitted a petition with more than 50 signatures and claim to have graphic video footage to buttress their case. But Supervisor Frank Del Gallo insists there is nothing the town can do — that if the Della Villa property qualifies as a racetrack, then “there are racetracks all over Rotterdam.” ................>>>>..............................>>>>...............http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r00702&AppName=1

Now that the motorcycle and 4 wheeler problem has been brought to light of day and publicized in the Gazette if there's an accident in that or other areas where a kid is killed or injured while racing it may just open up a lawsuit against the town for not addressing the problem when first notified. |

I will break my silence on this issue --- after reading the town code on race tracks and doing some of my own checking out of the matter --- it IS a racetrack If they want to continue to operate then they need to get the various approvals, provide proof of insurance, and pay for a permit to operate a race track. If the code enforcement person or inspector says it is not a racetrack -- then the Town Supervisor and/or Town Board should overrule that decision and say that it IS a racetrack.
Itis time to stop pussyfooting around .. make the right decision .. and move on to the other important items on our town's agenda |

This is exactly what the townspeople have been saying and waiting for the town board to do. Please, while you're at work or when you next go to town hall, inform your boss on this enlightenment that you have received. Thanks. |
