This is another never ending saga ala Big House. If Mexican Radio is insane enough to open Downtown they deserve to lose their shirt. Really surprised that the TU would print this story. Fiction from the DEM morons spin room is usually reserved for the Gazetto fax machine.

Tell us how the TAXABLE tax base in the city is.     Can you tell us??????     Well???????    Come Ron of Rotterdam town planning, if it's a renaissance, tell us what has happened to the TAXABLE tax base.

Oh, of course, the dem from the Rotterdam planning committee doesn't even know the definition of "taxable tax base."

Personally, I believe the best Mexican food is only available in Texas or in Mexico, itself.  And even in Texas, you have to get away from the tourist spots and downtowns -- take some back country roads to find a owner-run taqueria to really get the authentic Mexican dishes prepared as only the loving hands of an actual Mexican-American can make.  My favorite taqueria is in a small Texas town southwest of Houston where the husband and wife cook the food and their daughters run the counter where you order your food.  Everything is cooked to order.  The atmosphere is very rustic American south-west -- not "tacky Wolf Road/MegaMall/Chain restaurant".

One more restaurant selling Americanized versions of burritos and tacos with overpriced cocktails doesn't interest me in the least.

Furthermore, I think more effort should be made to attract businesses (beyond bars and restaurants) that would attract more people downtown.   Much more effort should be made to create middle-income residential units downtown.

It certainly appears that the restaurant owners were not that hot on the idea of moving into schenectady. It wasn't until METROPLEX/GILLEN gave the 'taxpayer's farm' away......again!!!!

When are the sheople going to wake up and see that the ONLY concern METROPLEX/GILLEN has....and personal motivation is to collect MORE AND MORE SALES TAX.......to grow their empires and line their pockets. These businesses only collect and pay sales tax to keep the METORPLEX/GILLEN machine going.......and all the while giving them tax free/loan free breaks!!!

So who is footing the tax bills for the city???? The struggling home owner!!

The METROPLEX/GILLEN has NOT helped reduce the property taxes for the struggling home owners!!!! It's just a self motivated machine that lines the pockets of the few!!! It is a disgrace!!!!

And hey......NYS is also a recipient of part of these collected sales tax!! How's the NYS tax base working out for New Yorkers???????

Any tax relief yet????

I just don't see another restaurant - Mexican or any other kind - downtown as the way to go.  We need a variety of other shops and businesses that will bring people downtown to shop.   AND -- we need to bring a certain amount of middle and upper income population back into downtown (like it once had 50+ years ago).

And lest we forget about the soon to be opened bar at the corner of lower Broadway/Union St. by the RR overpass.   Serving up the usual pub fare.   Were also assisted by the Plex or DSIC with a signage grant.

If they get a free restaurant then maybe they will succeed for a few years. Ultimately they should think aboyut opening in Saratoga. They must just be stupid or very susceptible to getting free sh_t.

Can't wait to see the ultimate stupidity in TWO TAX-EXEMPT mexican restaurants open just 1/4 of a block away from one another. Who's going to win?

Well, I guess that depends on the restaurant which receives more free hand-outs from Metroplex. Free 'grants', 'facade' grants, free plowing, free garbage, better lighting, free parking, more police presence...these owners can learn ALOT from Morris.

All you need to know - the ONLY customer that matters is Gillen.
