(yawn)    answer this .. why the hell should I care what a peckerhead like MC thinks ??

And - back to the topic -  Mexican Radio is a so-so place .. no big loss if it doesn't come to the city. There are new ventures coming in the near future  -- much more significant than an over priced  taco stand.

You just cannot explain what the progresss in the city is, can you.  You just can't explain the impact on the taxes, the crime, the infrastructure, the quality of life, WHERE THE PEOPLE LIVE, WHERE THE TAXPAYERS LIVE, can you?

So tell us DV, these new ventures that you claim are coming.   Tell us how they will lower taxes.  Tell us how they will increase propery values.   Tell us how they will reduce crime.   Tell us how they will be entirely self supporting meaning no stealing from the taxpayers.  Tell us how they will enhance the quality of life for the residents, the homeowner, the TAXPAYERS in the NEIGHBORHOODS....you know, the area were people LIVE.

So tell us DV, how will these alleged new ventures help eveything OUTSIDE OF DOWNTOWN.   Can you tell us that?   I mean REALLY, DV, 8 years under your socialist dem mayor, savage soman, and gillen and tell us what has happened to the people of the city.....tell us how life has gotten better.   Can you explain that?

So, what business downtown IS NOT a "so-so place"? Bombers? Mike's Hot Dogs?  What would qualify as a better than average (or sub-average) place that you would consider gracing with your presence?

I thought all business that comes (under their own free will, without taxpayer subsidy) was a good business?

Mexican Radio would have been the first Downtown destination restaurant. National reputation. No its not Le Bernadin but good for here. Sure beats the lousy pizza or Indian downtown. Please list these "new ventures"-lol. More pie in the sky like The Big House, the national book store/toy store/clothing store now Gillen's Gulch? The jewelry store fled even with the tax giveaways. Until taxes are slashed and crime tackled stop throwing millions off the back of a train.

The Gazetto already did a breathless piece on the 4 hot dog vendors, who then complained how bad business is. The fact that Mexican Radio/Wolf's 1-11 announced they are not coming to 325 State on the same day that the crepe place locked up should be enough to awaken even the biggest pom-pom shaker.

Another great improvement project for Downtown Schenectady --
Great work by  Ray Gillen, the Democratic County
Legislature, and Metroplex as they continue to work together to make Schenectady County a great place
to live, to work, and to do business.

First it was a 'great improvement' Now you say it is 'so-so'??

in case u missed it.. the lady who owns the crepe place sold her business. of course you would not know that because u r full of dog droppings. so once again, the renaissance continues, and u are once again left at the bus station, trying to catch a bus to loserville, or rotterdam, whichever is closer.

yes.., the crepe shop has been sold.. she closed it because she SOLD IT........... how does that figure into your warped thoughts? guess it may make your brain explode. lol

Actually, the people who bought the crepe shop will be opening it as a coffee shop. Really don't know how this fits into any Renaissance senario as the crepe owner realized that operating Downtown was too expensive for her and her catering business will be well outside the phony Renaissance.

Wonder who bought this place. Maybe Gillen and Morris like playing Monopoly because they both don't need a banker and keep passing "Go".

A renaissance where the seller had to lower her asking price $55,000. Then locked the door and disconnected the phone. On the SAME day both Mexican Radio and Wolf's pulled out of 325 State. The renaissance bus has fallen off a cliff. Metrograft/DSIC are both on life support from the oppressed County taxpayers. BTW, the City's finances are so rosy that they stiff both the County taxpayers and City school kids.

The bottom line is that businesses are NOT doing as well as the gazetto is reporting. Just ask the business owners.....we did!!

The FACT is that  the lady who sold the Crepe business -- said that she was selling ONLY because she had chosen to go into catering  .. she specifically said that it was NOT due to lack of business.

The FACT is that she was able to sell the business.

The FACT is that there are MANY more businesses downtown today than there were  8 years ago when the GOP
was running the city and the county.

The FACT is that Schenectady -  the city, the county and the towns - has greatly improved in the past 8 years under the leadership of a Democratic majority on the County Leg and Democratic leadership in city hall and the town halls.

The nattering nayboobs of negativity want us to forget how bad downtown Schenectady was when Boob Farley, Joe Surhada, Al Jurzynski and the rest of the GOP gang was running things.    But we remember how bad things were and their lack of leadership.     And we will never entrust them with running our county, our city and our towns again.

There is no improvement for the homeowners of the City. They have double the taxes than they had under the GOP (as you like to state it), they lived in neighborhoods which were safer and nicer and they knew that their children could actually gradute (now it's pretty much a crap shoot).

You can't say that the City is financially doing better either. How do you explain the City not paying their school taxes (because they can't collect millions from slumlords, foreclosures, etc) and pushing the debt to the County? An entire Downtown not contributing to the tax base?

As Governor Cuomo stated yesterday while he stood outside a home "THIS IS NOT AN ATM FOR LOCAL GOVERNMENTS".

How do you explain the FACT that 8 years ago -- Schenectady's credit rating was the "junk bond status" ?????

How do you explain that the last time the GOP ran the city -- the police chief was running his own drug ring ???

How do you explain all the empty storefronts downtown during the GOP years???

It has taken 8 years to CLIMB BACK from the deep hole that the REPUBLICAN MAYOR . the REPUBLICAN COUNTY LEG  and the REPUBLICAN STATE SENATOR put Schenectady in.

Whic reminds me .. we still have one more Farley to boot out of office .. thank God Boob Farley will be gone at the end of the year.  No one will rest until Hugh is finally put out to pasture.

Okay, now the City can't pay its bills, crime is out of control and all the storefronts downtown are just a sham. They don't pay anything to the taxbase.

Ever go to a Western movie shoot? All the buildings are just shells, well that's how the Downtown is. It's pretty to look at, but it doesn't help the community at all. As a matter of fact, the homeowners are footing the bill time and time again for businesses downtown. Many of them are leaving and others will be a burden for decades.

Right now, you have a City that people won't move to and residents want to leave. That's not progress. The leaders have failed time and time again.

You sound like Obama. No mention of the 35 straight years the DEMS have "run" City Council? You really need to go Downtown more often. Take a stroll on lower State St below Erie. And Olender's has not boarded up yet. Enjoy the retail at Gillen's Gulch. There are more empty storefronts then when the REP last had a Mayor 8 years ago. And the City could actually pay it's bills, plow it's street and repave roads.

What was the County deficit when the REP ran the County? Right we had a surplus! Good luck raising County taxes $9 MILLION a YEAR to pay for Savage's County Home. Then our County taxes can be 5X higher than Saratoga County. New home of Cousin Vinny Decarbo.
