Man charged in parking lot purse grab By CATHY WOODRUFF, Staff writer Last updated: 6:11 p.m., Friday, March 19, 2010 ROTTERDAM -- Town police arrested a 24-year-old Schenectady man on charges stemming from the robbery of a grocery shopper on Tuesday. Omar M. White of Congress Street is accused of taking a woman's purse from her car as she loaded groceries in the Altamont Avenue Price Chopper parking lot. Following a struggle, police said today, he managed to overpower the woman and ran off with the handbag. Rotterdam detectives identified the suspect, who already was in custody on similar charges, with help from the Glenville Police Department and the Schenectady County Sheriff's Department.
