So now GP is a Dem? I don't get it. He is primary Amedore, as far as I understand from the newspaper, because those in the committee don't think Amedore is worthy of their nomination. How does that translate to GP wanting to be a Dem!? You people need to lay off the Kool-Aid, take a breath, and return to planet earth!

No No...GP IS a Rep. actively dividing the Republican Party by running in a primary against a popular Assemblyman, giving Angelo a better opportunity to win the seat.  It is pretty apparent GP is not trying to unify the party.  THEN, if Angelo wins, GP would change his political stripe to Dem or Con or whatever affiliation would give him greater access into local and state government.  GP's law firm benefits greatly on his accessibility to government.  An attorney's value is determined for the most part by his ability to persuade those in political power.

GP and the local Republicans haven't been sounding like a united party lately.

If GP was really after power, wouldn't he have been on the Amedore bandwagon from day 1? You say he's a terrible leader and a terrible chairman, now you say he has the intellect and leadership ability to destroy the republican party, take over the democratic party, put his supposed friend in as an assemblyman, then profit personally from this? Really!? He's either a super genius or an idiot. You guys like to portray him as both, it's getting old! Let this play out and see what happens.

Because the reps are jumping ship and now they are looking for love in all the wrong places!  I'm a Dem and I want my party to stop taking in Reps!  If they didn't have a dem philosophy before, how did you get one so quickly?

Your party is recruiting Republicans...three of their top vote getters are now Democrats...wooing them with majority perks. After all,
they have had no viable candidates of their own in the last few cycles...they haven't been able to beat George Amedore...newly
registered Conservatives running as Democrats...Democrat candidates masquerading as conservatives...anything but the "Dem
philosophy". Even the new "Conservatives" on the Town Board who ran with Democrat authorizations insist they are not Democrats.
Rest assured they will market Angelo as a conservative, knowing that GA won that seat with a conservative message...even without
a CP authorization, which I doubt he'll get.

OMG you mean the Dems are like "Moonies?"  Dems in Rotterdam need to be slapped up the side of the head by Albany County Dems.  AS for Rotterdam REps--they just need to be slapped!

Cicero, I've done some research. GP was not sworn in on Jan. 1...He was sworn in on December 30, 2009. This was BEFORE Angelo announced he was changing parties. How would GP know Angelo was going to do that? Even if Angelo was already a Dem, who cares? I don't know either of them personally, but if they are as close as some insinuate, are you suggesting they should not be involved in the important personal achievements of one another because they are in different parties? I can't imagine how you felt about Orin Hatch Eulogizing Ted Kennedy....

Greeny.....one doesn't have to be a genius to plan this out! You just need to be deceptive and politically and personally motivated. Personality traits all politicians apparently have.

Perhaps GP can get GA right out of the picture with political mudslinging, AS wins the #105 seat, GP is welcomed into the dem or con party and BINGO.......GP is sitting on the county leg!

OR....
Does GP just have an axe to grind with RACC.... the state reps....perhaps? How come we haven't heard from our local reps on exactly what their take is on this last move by GP? Do they support his latest move or not?

What local Reps did you want to hear from BT?  Two Rotterdam committee people stated their concern for who will be the candidate for the 105th.  Comments based on listening to all voters and this forum that said, we need change in Albany.  We need new faces.  Wouldn't that make you think that GA may not be voted back in?  Maybe we need a fresh face to compete in this voter mentality?

The Reps were cleaned out of town because they were all retreads as you say.  Voters just wanted change.  Many folks despite affiliation haven't been happy with GA.  Maybe committee people don't want to see the seat lost so they are looking for a new candidate.

GP is not a new face! He IS part of the 'old way of playing politics machine'.

The local reps call fowl because GA or the state reps didn't come to rescue their local party? Well where are the local reps today? Certainly not even at ONE town board meeting! They appear to be non-existent.

GP is a new face to most voters.  Face it, he is an unknown to the general population.  Only us Reps really know who he is.  He attended TB meetings and for the most part was quiet and unassuming at town attorney.  It wasn't until the Gazette made a story out of his letter that people even paid attention to his name.  I wish that letter could be posted on this forum.  I never saw it.

I think anyone who has heard FDG speak now realizes that he probably never read War and Peace.  It doesn't make him a poor leader.  In reality he is a self-made uneducated man.  Very nice man and he knows what it is to put in a hard day's work.  But clearly he didn't learn from a book.

GP is smart enough to realize that his decision to unseat Mertz resulted in the demise of his entire Republican ticket in Rotterdam.  So now he is going to attempt to unseat GA, to even the score with State Republicans(RACC), by holding a primary against  Amedore. All the while getting his boy AS elected as a Dem.  The local reps aren't making decision based on what's best for the republican party.  GP and the rest of the local reps are settling a score with Bill S. and the state republicans.  You can spin all you want.  There is a national swell of opposition to Obama and his policies. A republican won Ted Kennedy's seat.  Pubic opinion is starting to lean toward the Republicans.  And GP and the local Republicans are dividing the party.  C'mon... This is a winning strategy?

It's almost like Obama ... intentionally driving a wedge in the party, which is certain to lead to their destruction.  I don't get it. A conspiracy theorist might think they were plants intent on breaking the party in two as their main mission. Do I believe that? No .. but it's sure what it seems like.

The difference being is, Obama is an ideologue who truly believes in a single payer healthcare system.  He is dividing his party by using the bully pulpit to force his agenda, even if it is unpopular and political suicide for some members of his own party to support it.  Remember though, Obama holds elected office, and so does most everybody in congress.  On the other hand, the unelected ex party boss GP is forcing a primary to unseat GA for reasons of more inner party squabbling.  They want to primary him because of his lack of involvement in the last local elections, NOT for GA's performance as Assemblyman or for his voting record.

This threat to primary is about Amedore's service to the PARTY, and not his service to the PEOPLE.
