Proctors to inhabit old KeyBank building
Details of plans for space to be announced today
BY KATHLEEN MOORE Gazette Reporter
Reach Gazette reporter Kathleen Moore at 395-3120 or moore@dailygazette.com.

Proctors is taking over the former KeyBank building on State Street as a fourth venue for arts and entertainment.
Details will be announced at a press conference today. But Proctors CEO Philip Morris acknowledged Tuesday that Proctors would be “doing something” with the building, which is just two doors from the main stage. A press release said the building would be used to “create a new community gathering place.” Beyond that, Morris said he had promised to remain mum until the press conference. “So I’m sorry, but I can’t tell you more,” he said. Artists are hoping the site will include more space for studios. Proctors supports many artists with low-rent downtown studio space.
But others are hoping Proctors will add another stage. If so, it would be the theater’s fourth. There is the main stage, which was expanded in 2005 to make room for larger and more popular Broadway shows; the GE Theater, which can host small theater productions or films on an extra-large screen; and Proctors Upstairs, the stage at 440 State St. that is used for medium-sized productions. Mayor Brian U. Stratton said he only knows that the space will be converted into “another cultural venue.”
He expects the building to become the downtown space for galas and other catered events. .....................>>>>....................>>>>..............http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r00900&AppName=1

Well, considering they have the money to expand, I guess that means they won't need county taxpayer money this year?

Another slap in the face to the County taxpayers aka {sheeple}. Another building permanently taken off the tax rolls. Nobody at the County says nuthin? Where's the County Manger on this outrage? -lol-

Bring back Joe Suhrada. Now-more than ever. He's tanned, he's rested, he's ready to serve!

Becoming? Millions of tax dollars dumped into this bottomless pit. They took Carl's off the tax roll-now the huge Key Bank. Wasn't the head of DSIC from Key Bank? This is an outrage-no one will say enough? Where is Ray with a private sector tenant?

Since they are doing so great (lol) let's increase the PILOT to $1.5 MILLION.

Suhrada doesn't want to be a retread. He served his two terms, never advocated term limits but didn't run for that seat again. And won't run for anything in the county again, in my estimation. So you have to find another guy to go shout into the Grand Canyon- he served his sentence and there were only 5 or 6 people listening. When he found that he received more criticism from the right (newcomers though they might be to conservative politics) than from the left, that was the last straw. When his own party RACC friends screwed him and lied to him over the legal bills from the Mallozzi affair, that was adding insult to injury.

The county doesn't need Suhrada, he is just one guy. It is bigger than him. The county needs to wake up, and the odds are 13-2 that they are not going to soon. Suhrada will keep his eyes open and call a spade a spade. He never forgets the players or the game. You will hear from him, but he will stay in the private sector where he has been all his life. He will enjoy and view political warfare through a different glass.

It gets worse-Proctor's paid only $150,000 for a 3 story bank building! Instead of repaying the broke County taxpayers they expand for a catering hall? Gee, I wonder who will run the catering operation? -lol-

This is an absolute outrage! Where is the County Manager? Where is Ray Gillen? No private business was interested in this huge building?

Joe Suhrada should be named new County REP chairman. He is the only one with sense and business expertise. Two things in very short supply here.

I don't see the outrage.  Giving out free money is what NYS does.  IF we don't do it, what will we be the best at? oh... Maybe getting governors to step down?

I don't spell check!  Sorry...

The prob is, the Ciceros of the world and the other patronage hacks at RACC who are 'uber conservatives,' have decided to backstab him repeatedly while padding their own pockets and feathering their own nests, all on taxpayer cash. Why would he want anything to do with liars and criminals, masquerading as good guys? The world of politics is filled with whores (no insult to actual whores meant) who are nothing but frauds. You are born alone and die alone in that business. No sane person would want to serve with such fickle backers and a luke warm conservative movement who only get inspired for 10 minutes every 15 years. I gotta' hand it to the socialists, they are "on" and "on point" 24/7 and walk the walk. It is no wonder Judy D, Holly V, Angelo S and Niki DL joined them and took the international oath to the Commitern. They at least have people behind them, who actually come out and support them no matter what RACC or NYSGOP creep gives orders to the contrary!

There were over 10,000 blank votes for DA. The natives are getting restless. But...........

And this is not free money. The County taxpayers have been paying through the nose for Proctor's-not to have it expand like a virus. Now a catering hall? Give us a break. Maybe if these useless "planners" were working a private business would move in AND PAY TAXES. No wonder County sales tax receipts are tanking.

Where's the stores Ray promised? Another failure and the MSM treats it like some huge accomplishment. "Crippled manufacturing city" is right NYT.

Michael Moore just compaired Reps and Dems in an interview..  the Dems are snakes.. sneaky people who lie and cover up to push through their agenda under the cover of darkness, and the Reps are Jerks who shove it down your throat and say "take it whether you like it or not.."  While he's over generalization is because he's just that kinda guy, he has some truth to it.
