I was across the hall today from Eunice's office getting a copy of my tax bill.  I heard loud voices and turned around to witness that
the office worker and Eunice were arguing.  Eunice said something and the girl said to her that " I know you want those two girls back
here, but I am here and successfully hired off a list." Eunice said that "she is going to get those girls back here as soon as that bastard
hires me help." The office worker said to Eunice "I know you are in trouble, but you are not to take it out on me any more and after you
told me yesterday that all my problems began when you were hired, I thought you were rude." Eunice was spittting and sputtering saying
that she didn't say that "it must have been your imagination".  The office girl said "not my imagination Eunice, you said it to my face during
your ranting and raving due to the article in the newspaper."

I am so glad I was at town hall to witness that today.  That office girl did not back down!  Good for her!

Funny, I believe so little of what you say.

Who is to say MM is not correct?

I was sitting 2 rows in back of DM at the last town board meeting. She seemed to have negative remarks when certain people got up to speak. One was KR and the other was an elderly man. Actually the same man that sat in the front and asked about the 'don't ask cause we won't tell' speech from the attorney. She needs to tone it down a bit, cause there were many people around her that heard her.
And I'm not making this up.

I didn't say that MM wasn't CORRECT ... I just have a hard time believing her after her outbursts and negative comments after her election defeat.

I believe you (BT) to be truthful and have no reason to doubt what you say is true.

I don't believe that MM had an election defeat.  The only women running were Lynn F. and Mary Barrie.  I don't think MM is either.

It is time for EE to resign. She can no longer be trusted. She has admittedly broken the law! She is no longer suited for this job!! Time for her to take over the control of the senior center.

Let her beloved followers give her a drum and bugle, horse and carriage send off! I mean come on folks....this is a no brainer.

ROTTERDAM
Town clerk praised for years of service by most, not all
Esposito has been elected 11 times to position

BY JUSTIN MASON Gazette Reporter

Eunice Esposito was mulling a run for an unprecedented 11th term as town clerk when she received a tempting offer from her eldest son, Micky.
The retired Home Depot executive had bought a yacht to cruise around Florida. He named the vessel “Bella Mama Mia” after his mother and was pushing for her to join him rather than endure another four years embroiled in Rotterdam politics.
“He said, ‘Mother, no more campaigning, it’s over,’ ” the 83-yearold town clerk recalled recently. “He said, ‘You’re coming down to Florida and I’m going to make you a lady of luxury.’ ”
But living a carefree life isn’t something that comes naturally to Esposito after working in Town Hall for more than four decades. She scoffed at her son’s offer and a short time later informed the town’s Democratic Committee of her intentions to run for another term.
“I could never be a do-nothing person and just sit around,” she says. “I like what I do and I feel like I’m helping people.”
Esposito went on to beat Republican challenger Lynn Fiorillo by nearly 1,000 votes in 2009, despite only running on the Democratic line; Fiorillo ran on four different party lines. Among the 9,153 Rotterdam residents who turned out, nearly half cast ballots for the longtime clerk; she accrued more votes than any Town Board candidate.
Esposito, who some supporters call “the first lady of Rotterdam,” has a popularity that transcends party lines. She is often credited for her tireless work ethic, her sensitivity toward residents and her cheerful demeanor.
“I asked her to perform my marriage ceremony because I think that highly of her, both personally and professionally,” staunch Republican and former county Legislator Joe Suhrada said.
Esposito’s spry, sometimes fi ery approach to her job is a source of amazement among her own party members. Many town Democrats describe her as ageless in one of the most demanding offices in Town Hall.
“Eunice is the most compassionate and considerate person I’ve ever known,” said Diane Marco, a Democrat who served eight years on the Town Board. “She goes out of her way to accommodate any resident of the town.”
Critics, however, claim Esposito has lost a step in her golden years and can no longer run the clerk’s office efficiently. Some say she’s a roadblock in Town Hall, while others claim she simply doesn’t know when to bow out of politics gracefully.
“It’s tough to tell grandma it’s time to stop driving,” said Tom Buchanan, chairman of the Schenectady County Republican Committee. “Eunice is like that grandma, and it’s time for her to retire.”
CITY NATIVE
Esposito was born in Schenectady and like many first-generation Italian-Americans grew up in the city’s Mont Pleasant neighborhood. Her parents were proud of their old-world heritage and taught her to speak Italian before English.
As a teen, she scored her fi rst job at the Army depot in Rotterdam, dipping tools used by soldiers into hot wax to prevent corrosion. In high school, she was a standout athlete and a hard-working student, which prompted an administrator to say at her graduation that if anyone deserved a diploma, it was Esposito.
She became a secretary at General Electric after graduating but left the job several years later to raise a family with her husband, Michael. Back then, she said, the closest she came to local politics was helping brother Bill Osta campaign for Rotterdam Town Board during the 1960s.
Osta went on to serve six terms. And when Supervisor John Kirvin was seeking a temporary fill-in for his personal secretary, Osta suggested his sister.
“It was only going to be a temporary thing,” Esposito recalled. “I never had any aspirations to be in politics.”
Nearly a decade later, Esposito was still there. Party leaders were impressed enough with her work ethic that they tapped her to succeed Town Clerk Marie Blanchard in 1980.
Esposito’s presence in the clerk’s office was hit for Rotterdam’s Italian population, many of whom had only recently immigrated to the United States. Her fluent Italian helped put them at ease at the town.
“They could come to Town Hall and someone could understand them,” she said.
Esposito also found a zeal for the clerk’s office. She said the job never seemed like work because of the joy she found in helping people. Her reputation translated to success at the polls. For decades now, Esposito has routinely trounced any opponent.
She’s credited with marrying scores of Rotterdam residents. She weds a half-dozen or so couples each week and will even perform weekend ceremonies at Town Hall.
Former deputy clerk Sue Madia said Esposito doesn’t differentiate between her time at work and her time at home. She’s watched Esposito bring homemade soup to sick residents and has left family occasions to help out a Rotterdam resident in a pinch.
“Countless times she’s gone in on a Saturday to file a death certifi cate or has left a family function to do a spur-of-the-moment wedding,” she said. “You don’t get that kind of commitment often.”
IN HER HONOR
Esposito’s prominence in the town prompted former Democratic Supervisor John Paolino to propose renaming Fort Hunter Park in her honor in 2002. Paolino abruptly suggested the name change during a board meeting, catching Esposito by surprise as she was taking minutes in shorthand.
And while some groused about the renaming being a political ploy, the board was quick to adopt the change. Today, a sign stands prominently on Curry Road announcing the entrance to Eunice O. Esposito Park. .............>>>>.....................>>>>......................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r01100&AppName=1

yup,,,keep your home here on 'reduced taxes' and go to Florida.....that seems to be the norm here in town......let the rest be responsible.....you see, it's the pathetic taxes in this state that make seniors
resort to groveling and grubbing around for 'freebies' and 'cheapies', like the are entitled to it......no one is more equal than another......GET OFF MY BACK......

the bigger picture here is state/county/town tax rules, rates etc........and in politics the 'big fish' no matter how nice can still be self serving.....why did FDG run? oh yeah---HIS TAXES on his compound......

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.

Ya gotta hand it to Mason though. He can spin any Dem in a great light. So far he has made FDG look like a genius and EE as a public servant who was just trying to help someone out in spite of the fact that he was dead. Only in the Gazette folks.

Her critics have been vocal about the issue, with one even calling for her to resign on a local online discussion forum, RotterdamNY.info. Buchanan offers the flap as further evidence of Esposito’s inability to perform her duties as clerk.

WOW! Where does one begin on this article! First, this is the first blatenly bias article I have ever read by Justin. I'm very disappointed in him and his bias journalism. It would be interesting to know if Justin mentioned the forum's  'flap'  to buchannan or if buchannan mentioned it first and used the forum's 'flap' to support his thoughts. Ya know...what came first the chicken or the egg?

The dems, with the help of the cheer leading gazette, put the usual liberal socialist bleeding heart spin out to the 'court of public opinion'. Obviously they needed damage control. Although and if I remember correctly....no one at the last town board meeting brought up the EE incident except for those defending, excusing and condoing her unlawful behavior.

What we have come to expect out the the city of schenectady's government, we can now expect in Rotterdam. THE DEMS HAVE LANDED!!

More recently, Esposito has become the subject of a New York Department of State investigation into notary fraud. She allegedly notarized the signature of a long-deceased Rotterdam man on three occasions, which allowed his benefactors to keep a property tax exemption, according to the complaint filed in late August. The move allowed the owners of the Westside Avenue home to pay taxes on only half of the property’s value, according to county records.
Esposito has admitted to sometimes notarizing documents without witnessing the signatures but said she did so only as a service to residents who could not make their way to the clerk’s office. She vehemently denies notarizing the signature of a deceased resident.

So, she violated the law, cost the town taxpayers real $ ... and she denies notarizing the signature of a dead person.  How would she KNOW if he's dead if he didn't appear?

Justin, I wish I could say I'm surprised at your "spin" - but I'd expect nothing less from your handlers.

Ok folks, this complaint was filed in AUGUST! BEFORE the election. So if this was a rep/political issue, doesn't it make sense that they would have put this 'out there' BEFORE the election? DUH!

So again, the gazette rag, the dems and EE's supporters who are defending, supporting and condoning her unlawful behavior, and as ND so eloquently states....'are way uff base heya'!

How can anyone be suprised with Mason's reporting. When Tommasone wanted to bring the clerk's office into the 21st century Mason made it sound as though ST was going after EE. The Dems turned modernizing a Town office into something political with his help. His next feature will probably be about that great administator and educator ND and the marvelous job she has done in Schenectady. What a rag!
