Queensbury town Supervisor Dan Stec plans to decide by early March whether he’ll challenge U.S. Rep. Scott Murphy in Congress. Stec, 40, has met with Republican Committee leaders in three counties in the 20th Congressional District and plans to talk with the other seven this month, including the Saratoga County Republican Committee on Saturday. Ballston resident Patrick Ziegler is also exploring a run for the seat in November and will speak with the county committee on Saturday, said Chairman John Nolan. “These are both people interested in the position, and they’re referring to this as their exploration,” Nolan said. Nolan expects the 10 counties will gather sometime in March to endorse a GOP candidate after all those who want to run have made themselves known. Ziegler is a Ballston committeeman and is New York State coordinator for the Huck Political Action Committee, which finds and funds Republican political candidates. In an open letter to Murphy released Tuesday, Ziegler criticized Mruphy’s support of the federal stimulus package and proposed government handling of health care and the student loan system. “No amount of campaign rhetoric, sloganeering and calls for bipartisanship can mask the simple and startling realization that our national leadership is utterly devoid of Constitutional, fiscally conservative solutions to pressing issues that are affecting every American worker, farmer, small business owner, family, consumer and investor,” Ziegler wrote. ...........................>>>>............>>>>..................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r01300&AppName=1
